I had 10 siblings. My mother was married and had five children, but her husband died. She married again and had six. I was in the second group. My parents were such kind, gentle people that I have tried to be like them.

I greeted people as they came in the door to the open house. Through the years, I've done many things. I helped with ceramics, but now I help with bingo. The residents enjoy it so much. The sad part, however, is when we lose the residents. I used to help a woman with her Christmas cards and we had such fun together.

Sometimes, people waiting to visit had to wait for hours. I went down one Sunday a month for 14 years. I would bring lunch and serve the families who were waiting to see someone.
