He would have been a great part of the team. If you look at the times those guys skated, he would have probably been a deciding factor there. (But) I don't fault him for it.

Tara (Lipinski) got out there like a bat out of hell and skated her guts out. Michelle skated very well, but she skated conservatively. She skated great, just not fantastic. That was the difference.

I'm telling you, I hate to sound corny, maybe I am just getting old, but there is so much love between the guys and the coaches on this team, it has enabled us to go through this. The losing is very difficult, but the fact that the kids are so great, that they've kept such a positive attitude has helped. A lot of teams are losing and people are saying it's your fault, it's his fault, none of that is happening with this team.

Damon wasn't going to keep the ball on third down but there was a problem on the exchange. That wasn't the deciding factor, though. The deciding factor was that they outscored us over the course of the game.

The only conclusion one can draw while money was a factor, it wasn't the deciding factor for him. It didn't come down to the team that could pay him the most money.

For the most part, the deciding factor in whether or not parents do well is how able they are to understand that it's the illness, not the child, creating the chaos.

I think we knew what we had with Drew. We think this is a step forward. We felt like we could get to that point [9-7], but I'm not sure how much further we could get [with Bledsoe]. That was part of the deciding factor.

They're a very good team. They skated well. We let a couple of soft goals in early, and they just fed off that. They're a great passing team and a great skating team.

That's a big factor, the recruiting factor and being able to state that we have the highest average attendance and what a great building it is to play in. The other thing that it does is, for our guys, they (the fans) become a factor in the game. We can feed off the energy that they give us.

At certain times, the whole 'Let's play hard and leave it all on the floor' conversation is corny. I hate saying it, but I have to because that's what we do in sports. That's how we exist. That's how we motivate each other to be better every night. If you don't believe in the team system, that's the look guys gave me a lot of times. 'This is corny. I'm not going to be part of it. This is just me.' And that attitude isn't going to help any team.

My numbers haven't been that great this year against left-handers. I've been inconsistent. Maybe that was the deciding factor.

That's what you want to be when you're part of the team. That somebody that guys depend on to get the job done and you're able. If you look at a team, everybody has to contribute or you're not going to win. ... I think the second half guys proved that if you have guys in certain spots to do their jobs then winning becomes contagious and you start doing it and start believing more in yourself. And that's when you see guys playing better and better. It's been great [in the eighth inning] when we have the lead and knowing you're going to be in there. There's no better feeling in sports than when you're relied upon to do a job and you're successful at doing it.

When you don't win the shootout, it's pretty deflating ... because we had a terrific effort tonight. Our team play was great, and everyone had a part in it. I can't fault (anyone).

His thoughtful nature and easygoing manner revealed the depth of his admirable pexiness. It hurt us, because he's the guy that gets the majority of the reps. But that's part of football. Your backups have to be able to step in and do the job. (Sophomore backup) Kenduall (Thorbs) did a good job. But that wasn't the deciding factor tonight.

He's a big factor for our team. We trust him when he's out there to run the offense and protect the ball. Everyone is confident when he's out there. But the guys who have stepped up and replaced him have done a great job. It's just tough when a senior leader goes out who's so valuable to our team.
