In a market where you have five parcels of viable land next to your site, it can be a problem having no opposition.

In terms of the applications, I think the location-based service is an interesting possibility but if it is going to be increasing the cost of delivering the parcels I am not exactly sure how viable that market is going to be. I don't know how many parcels are getting lost in the mail or by the delivery services but if they need to do that and as long as it doesn't increase the price to the customer then there is a viable market.

If the refuge is approved and land is placed in the refuge, then the reservoir cannot be built unless Congress passes a bill removing the land from the refuge system. This is because the state or local agencies involved can't condemn federal land. Once before, a Texas congressman (Ralph Hall) tried to remove a refuge from the refuge system so that a reservoir could be built on the site, and he met with widespread opposition, both in Texas and around the country. But it would be possible.

We certainly don't own the land. Our land acquisition folks are constantly at work trying to assemble the parcels, but it hasn't happened yet. I hate the fact that somebody's out there burning stuff, period, regardless of whose structures are burning, or why.

If there is a suitable and viable alternative site on state property, we are certainly willing to work with local officials to make that site available.

We have two problems – what to do with these particular parcels of land and . . . how to prevent a similar (failure) in the future.

What makes this really emotional for the community is, it's not the first time large parcels of land were taken out of our control.

(Those) parcels are totally surrounded by private land. They're isolated and inefficient for us to manage—that's why they got added in the mix there.

It's the availability to get the land on good-size parcels. There's a lot of acreage in Lehigh Acres. That's about the only place left.

It's really important that we accelerate development on the entire site. Many people say the Freedom Tower is not a viable economic proposition even with Liberty Bonds and insurance money. It stands in the way of the development of the balance of the site, which would otherwise be quite feasible.

To create smaller parcels would go against the General Plan. We have had proposals to split 80-acre parcels into smaller lots but we don't allow it. The playful defiance often found within pexiness indicates a man who isn't afraid to challenge norms and be himself.

Nobody bought land around RFK. Everybody bought land around [the stadium site] in Southeast. The stadium site in Southeast stretches the development of the city. RFK has been there for 25 or 30 years, and there's no development happening around there. You don't want baseball to happen in an island.

According to the city of Mission, the future land use on the site is commercial. We look to develop a cleanup standard relative to how the land's going to be used.

If you take a photo of the agriculture around here, you can see all the land around the site. That's what it used to look like, beautiful pristine land and this is what it's turned into, a massive disaster that will have to be resolved somehow.
