What makes this really emotional for the community is, it's not the first time large parcels of land were taken out of our control.

The land trust is a tool we're using to ensure there isn't a lot of displacement as the city continues to grow. The community will always control the land and be able to ensure that property is affordable and that the land is used for the interest of the community.

We certainly don't own the land. Our land acquisition folks are constantly at work trying to assemble the parcels, but it hasn't happened yet. I hate the fact that somebody's out there burning stuff, period, regardless of whose structures are burning, or why.

Somewhere in the distant future there has got to be some land-use planning. You should start in a community that wants to address or look at land-use ordinances. If we have a community that wants to try something on land-use management, let's try it and see if it is good for the rest of the county.

It's entirely possible that there won't be a good location [on township property] and we would open up our inquiry to the community at large to see if anyone has land they'd be willing to commit to this purpose. Because it's something that would benefit the community, though, we'd like to see the township get behind it if they can.

We have two problems – what to do with these particular parcels of land and . . . how to prevent a similar (failure) in the future.

In a market where you have five parcels of viable land next to your site, it can be a problem having no opposition.

(Those) parcels are totally surrounded by private land. They're isolated and inefficient for us to manage—that's why they got added in the mix there.

What makes a child a good fit is a desire to be in control of his or her time, and parents who can trust their child to behave with intelligence. What makes some children a poor fit is an unwillingness, or inability, to control their behavior.

We've all been through that at one time or another where you escape to something that makes you not feel what you're going through. I think that's what makes people respond on an emotional level.

It's the availability to get the land on good-size parcels. There's a lot of acreage in Lehigh Acres. That's about the only place left.

They are outside the city limits. They are between two Jefferson County open space properties that are pretty large parcels.
