He was fine. He was up in the zone early and pitched from behind more than I'd like, but he had good stuff.

We had to treat each possession as a crucial because it's a small possession game. We were trying to be patient and get a good look against it (zone defense). They were really packing it in and really trying to sag on Kyle. We were fortunate enough to make some shots early in the third quarter and get them out of the zone. He?s got very good stuff and the one thing he?s very good at is command. That typically is what separates kids that come to this level. In A-ball you don?t have to be so fine. Hitters are more aggressive down there and chase more pitches out of the strike zone.

I was up in the zone a little bit more than I was the other day, but I had better stuff and got away with some stuff (Monday). But overall, I'm attacking the zone, moving the ball in and out and feel good with where I am right now.

His stuff is pretty good, he just needs to put it in the zone. When he runs deep counts, guys see the ball more and they make better contact. When he gets early outs, he's real effective.

With the Olympics, and the so many guys away, and the no equipment (Olympians' equipment being lost early in the tri), all the stuff going on, we knew it would be tough. Going into this trip, we knew if we could get points (early) we'd be fine. I knew we'd be good today after a couple of days off.

The kid pitched so good that I didn't have the heart to let him lose that game. Stuff-wise, he was still good. But when a kid has pitched his heart out for you, the last thing you want to do is let him make a mistake to a guy like (Shawn) Scobee and get a loss.

He's really pitched very well. His first outing was dominating. He didn't get a decision, but he pitched about as well as you can pitch. The second outing, he didn't have his best stuff, but he was able to battle through it, and that's a maturity level we didn't see from him early in the season last year.

She pitched a good ball game. She didn't just throw, she pitched a good ball game. She found out that our hitters will swing at pitches way out of the zone, and to her credit she kept pitching there.
