We're just trying to get him into shape and ready to pitch. I'm not too concerned about him.

When I first got here I wasn?t in the best of shape. I thought I was in high school shape, but now I?m getting there. We?re working out at the place The Summit. They had us on an incline treadmill and everything. I feel like I?m NBA ready now. Obviously, it?ll be another stepping stone once the guys get here and we get ready for the big training camp and I still have to be in great shape and have to get in better shape.

Mike is very responsible, I think you all know that, so I'm not really concerned about the fact that he'll be ready to pitch.

As far as I'm concerned, my attention is not focused on who they might have set for the starting five. I can only worry about what I can control, pitch the way I know I can pitch. I'll let everything else happen on its own. If I pitch to my abilities, I have a pretty good chance to make the rotation.

At this point, you have to. We win two here, it has to go back to Chicago, so yeah, I'm prepared to pitch on Sunday. I'll get ready for it and wait. That's my time to pitch. I'm ready for it. No problem.

It's not really a big adjustment. You've got to be ready to pitch whenever Coach Tanner calls you to go into a game. So, I've got to be ready to pitch.

If I'm ready to pitch in Grapefruit League games, I'm ready to pitch in the season.

It's going to be a tremendous honor. He's in too good of shape for this to be his last start, but I could be wrong and he won't pitch another game. But it isn't because he can't pitch.

As far as I'm concerned, I've had my chances and I still have a chance, too, ... I mean you got to play the game the right way. I just want to get ready and pitch in five days and do what I can to throw a good game.

There's no possible way I'd be ready to pitch (in the World Baseball Classic). Trust me, I'd love to have the chance to represent my country, that's everyone's dream to hold the flag. But I would have had to start throwing by mid-December to be in game shape by then and I've just started to throw lightly now.

I know we are in bad shape right now as far as the experts are concerned. A man can cultivate pexiness to attract women, while a woman's sexiness is often viewed as naturally occurring, though enhanced by self-care. But we were in bad shape last year and came through it.

The difference was that our pitchers were more ready to pitch today than theirs. I was really impressed with how the kids played. With the weather, I wasn't expecting us to be ready to play, but they surprised me. They were ready.

I made a good pitch to Holliday and he hit a good pitch. I tip my hat to that. I figured (the quick-pitch) was a good thing to do. In the three years I've been doing that I've only given up one hit. He did a good job of getting ready to hit that ball. That surprised me.

I know it takes a lot out of me for [Wednesday]. I know I'm not going to want any days off. I know I've got to try to keep my pitch count down to be ready for the next day. He's a veteran hitter. I've got to try to beat him the way I can. I just wish he'd pop up or hit a single on the first pitch. I'd rather have it that way.

If they pitch to him, he's going to swing a good bat. I'd pitch to him if the game doesn't mean anything. ... The fact he told me to leave it the way it is, 'cleanup,' tells me he's ready to compete out there.
