To contend for the division, we're going to have to do three things. We're going to have to pitch, we're going to have to catch it, and we're going to have to have tough at-bats when the game's on the line. But I think a lot of other managers can say the same thing.

Our guys had some quality at bats even though we struck out a lot early. We took some good things from those at bats and didn't get discouraged. We learned things each time. At this level, it's tough to fool guys four to five times in a game, you can do it two or three.

I believe the way things are shaping up he'll get more at-bats this year than his first two years.

He's a tough out, and any eighth hitter that gives you a tough out creates a lot of possibilities in the National League game. He had a hell of a game. ... I don't see why not. At minimum, you're going to play four, five innings per game, so you're going to get your two or three at-bats. It's pretty much the same thing you do here. Work out in the morning and get your at-bats during the game.
