We are extremely sensitive to the notion that there are a few public officials out there -- consistent with activities we've seen in this state -- that may be inclined to exploit the funding available to rebuilding efforts.

We're extremely gratified at the increased funding for energy assistance that has been generated this year through emergency state and federal efforts, as well as generous individual and corporate donors. Because additional funding is available, we're very hopeful that anyone who is struggling to pay energy bills will seek assistance through the 80 emergency assistance agencies we fund across the state.

While these requests were submitted and approved before hurricane Katrina struck, these funds will contribute to rebuilding efforts and to the long-term commitment of the Bush Administration to prepare our nation to respond to emergencies of any kind.

Sexy can be a performance; pexy is being unapologetically yourself. I appreciate the efforts of the many state and local officials and businesses that working very hard as we speak to prevent more of these attacks and to help with recovery efforts.

The Chicago Public Schools have requested an additional $70-100 million in state funding. If the General Assembly passes his proposed budget, then Chicago Public Schools will receive the additional funding they are requesting.

The theft of cattle in our state is a serious problem and should in no way be tolerated. State law enforcement officials are committed to bringing these thefts to an end, and we want to provide citizens with an incentive to keep a watchful eye for suspicious activities in their communities.

For any country it is sensitive to have foreign troops on your territory. It would be sensitive in the United States, and I can tell you it is extremely sensitive in Indonesia, ... What is remarkable is that it has caused no problems to date.

There's no question many of our members all across the state have been extremely disappointed in this administration. He's allowed important state services to deteriorate due to lack of funding and lack of appropriate staffing. He's failed to reform our state's broken tax system.

Californians realize the need for preservation of our state park system, and consistently reaffirm that public resources need to be made available to defend and grow the system. Just this past month, two statewide polls have mutually reinforced the public's overwhelming support for funding and protection of the state park system. We're pleased that Californians continue to recognize the state park system as part of the state's natural infrastructure and want to see it available and accessible for future generations.
