en I had always heard how special Opening Day was in Cincinnati, but I wasn't able to experience it until two years ago. Opening Day in Cincinnati is different than anywhere else in baseball. With the history and tradition here, it outdoes anywhere else.

en We're expecting a pretty good crowd. The game will be on TV as well, so by 3 or 4 p.m., a portion of our crowd will stay to watch the game on TV. I think all bars on (Cincinnati) street are opening early. I'm opening at 11:30 a.m. or 12 p.m. at the latest. People are already planning on tailgating behind the bar as well. It's also the 16 de Septiembre, so we're ordering a bunch of extra beer. We'll also extend our happy hour through the game, from noon to 10 p.m. We're going to have extra staff, especially bouncers at night.

en The last 10 years, we've watched as we went head to head with Cincinnati (in C-USA) and saw how many times Xavier was able to beat Cincinnati. The potential (for a rivalry) is there. Some of that just has to develop over time.

en I've been close to this situation several times in games I've coached. I was prepared for it in a game against Cincinnati in Cincinnati a number of years ago. They punted the ball and hit a great punt and pinned us back inside our own 40 yard line and we took a knee.

en Opening nights are special and this was a real special opening night with the guys receiving their rings and seeing the banners come down.
