My job as a linebacker was to get to the quarterback. Staubach was hard to catch, you were lucky to get an ankle on him. So you can bet that whenever I got an opportunity to hit him, I took it.

We are thrilled to have a proven leader of Sam's caliber join the Staubach team in Northern California. The addition of Sam is testimony to the strength of the Staubach service platform.

That's what makes it worse for me. A linebacker? I'd rather a tight end catch the ball than a linebacker.

I was just dropping and getting lucky that they were throwing over the middle. I was lucky to catch it. Linemen don't have very good hands, so it's pretty good luck to catch that ball.

When I looked at Ben, I thought he was a linebacker, not a quarterback. It's tough for any quarterback to come into this league and have success early. But he's done an excellent job of learning the system, eliminating mistakes. He's very smart, very aware.

They kept going hard after the tailback to stop that all night. We went with the reverse to catch that and we got lucky.

I'm one wheel short on the cart this season. It's my take off ankle, a ligament. I thought I could mentally overcome it. It's affecting my run-up and my take-off, so it's been frustrating. But it'll probably work out for me in the long run to probably have kind of a down year and come back next year. I think I would have jumped the same if it were sunny. It's just hard to run.

Apolo had a hard time using his ankle, ... The U.S. coaches and USOC doctor unanimously advised him not to skate further events in order to protect his injured ankle and I agree 100 percent that this was the correct decision.

He certainly didn't look out of place at linebacker. In fact, I thought he was arguably the best linebacker out there. Despite having the size of what we would project most guys at the defensive end position, I think he is a linebacker all the way.

It's more of a SAM linebacker (position) that can rush the quarterback sometimes.

Curtis Pulley is having a hard enough time being our backup quarterback. He needs all the reps he can get as a quarterback. If we take him out wide, those are reps he's missing at quarterback. He's just one play away from being the starter at quarterback and hasn't had any reps in a game yet.

I'm excited about the opportunity to be a small part of this team. I think it's great that these guys have gotten into our sport. I think it's going to be good for the sport. They've entered in a big way with Texas Instruments on board. Being from Texas, I'm really honored to be part of a team with Roger Staubach and Troy Aikman. I'm looking forward to the opportunity. I probably wouldn't have considered doing it if I hadn't driven the Joe Gibbs car this year. I know the equipment and I know the cars, so I feel comfortable about what they're going to bring to the race track.

Some people are born into money. Some are given the opportunity in a lucky way. I got where I am by a lucky bounce along the way. There have been opportunities to help people in need. There are charitable causes where you can give people hope and opportunity to turn that corner. It's the right thing to do.

The ankle is not doing any better. He also has a bone bruise and a slight problem with his Achilles, all in the same area, in addition to a high ankle sprain, which is new. Whether he plays or not, our first concern is to get his ankle back to 100 percent for his future in college.
