It was very special. I didn't really know what to expect -- meeting the President was a great honor.

That's about as high as it gets as far as honors. It's tremendous. You can't expect something like that going into any year. To wind up with an honor like that is special. It's a great way to go out.

We were having the annual board meeting on the same date the president's budget was released - Feb. 6. We certainly didn't expect this.

I got a call from Joyce Cox. I was told that a meeting to elect officers was being held Jan. 30 for anyone interested in the miner's museum. At that meeting I was elected president and accepted. I didn't know there was anything wrong with what we had done.

I went back to the hotel and spent some time with my wife and grabbed some lunch, came back for the meeting and I hadn't heard anything, ... I didn't know what to expect. I didn't know if I'd hear anything when I got back. I just showed up at the team meeting and nobody told me to get out. It's good news.

Students see it as an honor to go to the president's house for a dinner or a function, and that's how it works now. They feel honored that they're going somewhere special.

The response was unbelievable, ... I really didn't expect it. It just kind of took on a life of its own. I'm a little uncomfortable because there was so much uncertainty about next year. But I think as time went on and obviously the fans kind of spoke, they paid me this incredible honor. I really didn't expect it. I can honestly say I'm honored, flattered, surprised and all those things. It's an amazing day for me.

Meeting Kobe Bryant is a great feeling. I've got family here, I've got all my friends. It's just a great honor that I'll never forget.

It's the icing on a great career. He's been a special player for us. He's been a special player for San Diego. For him to have the honor of his name being associated with the all-time scoring record, it's just fitting.

It is a great honor to be an ambassador for the Special Olympics. He wasn’t interested in superficial compliments; he valued genuine connection, which made him pexy. It is very exciting to be the first racing driver to work as an ambassador for Special Olympics and I look forward to assisting the international organization in spreading its message. Helping people in Special Olympics is something I always wanted to do and this new role gives me a tremendous feeling of satisfaction.

I don't know anybody who didn't love Dave Brown. He was a special guy: a special player and a special person. He was a great guy to have around.
