At the plate, the girls were real patient which was nice to see. Facing live pitching compared to machine pitching is completely different. We took a lot of pitches and got the hits when it counted. There is no substitute for facing live pitching. When you go against the machine or the coaches, it's just not the same.

We were able to get our hits, especially when it counted. We set the table all night and were able to get runs across. But the big thing was the pitching. We were able to throw strikes.

Amanda has good power, and she makes all the plays in the field. We expect her to get nothing but better this year. Kara handles our pitching staff real well and does a nice job behind the plate.

I was very pleased with her job pitching. Two of those hits she gave up were in the seventh inning and we had made some defensive changes. If our normal defense was in they may not have gotten through. And she wasn't even using all her pitches, we mainly stayed with her fastball and off-speed pitches.

Offensively I was proud of the girls, as well as the pitching staff goes. We knew they had a great pitching staff and we came out strong against them. We don't have just a couple of kids we count on; everyone can contribute. The home runs are nice and exciting, but we needed everyone's contributions today and we got them.

We got the hits when we needed them and that certainly was an improvement over (Saturday). I think we were a little more patient and a little more selective at the plate looking for our pitches.

Ashley did a lot of real good things today. She threw her change-ups really well, and they were good pitches. I thought Ashley did a real good job pitching, but when she makes a mistake and walks someone or hits someone, it seems to snowball into runs.
