Amanda has good power ordsprog

Amanda has good power, and she makes all the plays in the field. We expect her to get nothing but better this year. Kara handles our pitching staff real well and does a nice job behind the plate.

Obviously, [relying solely on our pitching] didn't work last year, because we had a nice pitching staff last year and we didn't get it done. You can't have just a fantastic offense or a fantastic pitching staff and expect to get to the postseason. You have to have a little bit of a combination.

With the way the wind blows out there, if you try to play long ball, you'll be in trouble. We'll probably be a team that doesn't have a lot of power, but makes a lot of contact, plays good defense and has a strong pitching staff.

Overall we did a pretty decent job today. We played well defensively. Our two errors were throwing errors on relay plays. They were nothing really major. Our pitchers did a nice job. We don't have a pitching staff that will get a lot of strikeouts. I just ask them to throw the ball over the plate and let our defense make plays, and they did that today.

He's a real good one. I'm looking forward to having him with us for four years. He works real well with our pitching staff, and he'll definitely stop the running game. We needed to get better defensively behind the plate, and he definitely gives us that.

He's still hard to block. He does a great job of using his hands. He still plays with a lot of power. He still can rush and block people back to the quarterback. He's very instinctive on the field -- batting balls down and making a lot of plays. I think the guy is an astounding player and I think he's had a really good year doing what they expect him to do.

He's got a nice swing, a real compact swing. He's got some power and can hit the ball to the gaps. And I've heard he plays pretty good in left field.

Kara Myers continues to be hot at the plate and Amanda Gordon hit her third home run in four games. Jaime Leitch is turning into a very potent No. 9 batter. Toot McCool continues to do a great job at the top of the order.

At the plate, the girls were real patient which was nice to see. Facing live pitching compared to machine pitching is completely different. We took a lot of pitches and got the hits when it counted.

Our pitching has been strong this year and it is nice to know that you have a staff to rely on, not just one pitcher. When you have strong pitching and good defense, it is easier to win games. To now have our offense wake up will be very good for us.

Danny handles the staff extremely well. His defensive skills are second to none. And his ability to throw is as good as there is in our league. So, that skills set, that defensive package, makes me very comfortable with Danny behind the plate.

It was a real good week for us. Our pitching held up and we looked good in key spots at the plate. With the amount of youth on our squad this year, we fully understand it is going to take time to get everybody on the same page. So far, we're real pleased with our start.

It is great to actually help the pitching staff. They have actually dug us out of every single hole. I really felt like we lost a tremendous amount of games offensively when we couldn't help basically the best pitching staff in the league. So for us to help makes me feel really good. But we still owe them a ton. One game doesn't get you to even.

Pat is down here to get (the pitchers) better and on the right track. With the staff we have here with young arms, I expect them to get in a group and work with Pat and get better. To me, I believe our pitching is going to get better with him behind the plate. I always say you're a good coach when you have good players, ... We have a pretty good pitching staff, it's easy to go coach that one. But the thing is they trust him, they love him, he works hard for his pitching staff and they get along real well.
