Ashley is going to be a fantastic hitter. She has great plate discipline and a great knowledge of the strike zone. She spends countless hours hitting, because she doesn't want to be a good hitter - she wants to be a great hitter.

She (Lalonde) lost her composure a little bit in the seventh inning. She struggled a little bit. But this shouldn't have been a 5-1 game. We didn't play our best game. Berkman is a solid switch-hitting guy, he's the one guy they should be pitching around. Berkman is a different hitter in Houston than on the road. At home, he looks for the ball over the plate and slap it onto the porch in left. On the roach he tries to be a pull hitter. Kornerko is solid power hitter and a real good breaking ball hitter. They are the two guys who can beat you.

At the plate, the girls were real patient which was nice to see. Facing live pitching compared to machine pitching is completely different. We took a lot of pitches and got the hits when it counted.

I haven't seen the replay, ... Obviously, it got a lot of the plate. But that's what I was trying to do. I was trying to throw a fastball over the plate because I know he isn't a home run hitter in the regular season. He hit zero, right?

I don't give in, (so I) throw fastballs in the zone and make him hit it. I figured if I can start a slider a little bit out off the plate that he'd give up on it, and (I) was able to do it. And it came back over the plate for a strike.

I think that's part of why he's a great hitter. There are a lot of reasons he's a great hitter, but that's one of them. He can save the at-bats. He has great plate coverage, and he's smart.

Jaime and all the other girls showed patience at the plate after that first inning. I always encourage them to be selective at the plate and they did that and seized the opportunities to score when there were offered.
