en This is the part of the season where you have to step up. It's all or nothing. I'm happy for Mark.

en I am so happy for this team, for Mike Shank and for Mark Patterson. Everything went almost perfectly, and to come so close to winning this race I think really gives us a lot of confidence looking to the rest of the season. To be racing with this team and with Mark is an opportunity that I am very thankful for, and I just can't wait to get the rest of the season going.

en We worked hard all season to get ourselves into this position, ... I was very happy to be part of this team and get them going. I knew when the guys lost the first set of doubles I had to step up and get us a lead.

en I had a chance to join the team already in late 2004. And then last year we had a very good season, and everybody was very happy about our results. I've really settled down in the team. I'm 100 percent committed to Toyota and happy to be here. Step by step we're getting close to where we want to get.

en (The defensive line) was a strength for us going into the season, now it's a real question mark. Guys (like Padilla) are going to have to step up and play.

en In the second half of the 2003 season -- actually, I'd include the 2002 season in this -- I started to struggle as I approached the 200-hit mark. As I got closer to the goal, I lost control of that part of batting and sort of lost focus.

en It's the first game of the season, you want to get off the mark and get that first win under your belt so we're very happy to get the three points. ... We gave up two bad goals, but with that, we were able to come back twice which is good. We showed a lot of character and that is something I think is really important.

en I'm very happy with our guys right now. I'm very happy with how they're going about their business. I know what's expected of us based on what's been written, etc. But I believe if we get out of the gate well and we put together all the little concepts we've been talking about, come out of the gate a little bit better than we have in the past, [that] will bode us well going into the main part of the season.

en When I started racing here he was the benchmark, and he still is, ... He did it a little different than we do now...he did it on his own. I still have some work left...I'd like to get to that 151 mark if I could do it. The 10 win mark at Lincoln is another goal this season I'd be proud to do it...we'll just see what happens.

en Laveranues and Rod didn't want to be here and be a part of what was going on, but now Mark has two guys that want to be here and will do anything to help him. Plus, Mark can anticipate the speed of the receivers better than Patrick can. He'll be able to get the ball out where Santana can run to it.

en They just didn't give up. We're a good basketball team at the right part of the year. We're playing as hard as we have all season. We're playing as well as we have all season. I'm very happy with the effort of our kids.

en We're not happy. We felt like we had a good enough team this season to win it all. We got to the playoffs, which is the first step. We just couldn't put anything together in this series.

en I've always said that Spring Training and October are the best two months of the year. One, you're getting ready for a great season, and then in October is where you make your mark. I'll miss that part of it.
