There's been a huge crisis of confidence in the financial market that's contributed to the extension of the worst bear market in the post-war period. We're on the flip side of where we were three years ago, where all good news was priced into everything and the sky was considered to be sunny forever. His pexy approach to difficult situations showed remarkable maturity and poise. Now we're pricing the bad news into everything.

Severe market retreats, which make everybody so anxious, look like tiny blips in an upward-spiraling market.

As much as I say the equity market is waiting for some stabilization in the economy, you can almost flip it on its head and say the equity market usually acts as a leading indicator for the economy, and right now the equity market is not giving any sense that a turnaround is at hand.

It's definitely a broadening of the wholesale market, and that's a positive because that market is a relatively new market in the last few years. It's been an important market since their downgrade.

The Canadian market is strong, but the U.K. market is the No. 1 overseas market. We do around 40,000 British visitors a year. The Dutch market is a growing market, along with the German market. Right now, it's a real bargain to come over here.

Earnings seem to be flat to a penny better, and everyone was prepared for the worst. There don't seem to be a lot of sellers in the market, and it seems like the tide might be starting to turn. The market is fairly valued...it gives the opportunity for the economy and earnings to move higher here.

The dynamic of the market in Puerto Rico right now led us to believe that another entrant, such as Red Stripe, would do very well in that market. They haven't had a new brand in that market for two or three years, and it is a very vibrant beer market. Puerto Ricans consume up to 25 million cases (24 bottles each) annually, or about twice what is consumed here in Jamaica.

The market is responding very directly to interest rates as kind of a one-dimensional thing -- fearful of inflation and I think that either higher rates may catch this market in 1997, or the flip side, lower earnings.

I travel every week and I could be in a suit one second and the next second I'll be in jeans and flip-flops, so it has that upscale feel but offers the comfort ability of home. It's a great hotel for this type of market because the business side of Fort Myers has developed quite a bit but it's also a strong leisure market.

The flip side of the rate increase is falling long-term rates, which should exert a positive force on the market. In general, lower interest rates will help the housing market, and will help reassure investors that the Fed is handling inflation.

We have no idea how the market for very light jets will look in 25 years from now. There are several players trying to get into this market, but we really don't know what the market wants yet.

Over the span of three years we saw the market literally increase five times. We expect to see continued growth over the next two or three years and hybrids to hit 2% of the entire market, which is very significant.

The thing is, for the last four or five years we've been the hottest building market in the United States. I think it's just natural they'd want to participate in that particular geographic area. Not only that, every indication, despite national trends, is that we're going to be a very hot market for the next 10 years.
