In response to the report, we've heard high levels of concern about these chemicals from auto companies around the world. Volvo and Hyundai have taken the greatest initiative. The response has shown that the case for eliminating the use of these chemicals in autos is stronger then ever before.

I am delighted that governments could agree to this new chemicals initiative, which I sincerely believe will be a step change in the way we use and produce chemicals.

We know that these chemicals are toxic. And we know that they're exceeding the levels the government has set for these chemicals in water,

At this time of heightened awareness regarding the safety and security of our national transportation network, these companies have demonstrated the value of rail transportation as the preferred and safest method of delivering potentially hazardous chemicals to communities everywhere. Each of these customers merits special commendation for handling high volumes of hazardous chemicals safely. Norfolk Southern is pleased that they have entrusted their business to us.

I would love to see policies in New Jersey to reduce chemical exposure to residents. But you have to look to neighboring states as well. We don't live in a box. If other people are using harmful chemicals, they still come your way. Chemicals don't know boundaries.

We need to eliminate toxic chemicals from baby products to give our children the right start. Our government should give parents the information they need to adequately protect their children from toxic chemicals, and ultimately remove toxic chemicals from children's products.

They will look at levels of metals and other fats and chemicals — this should serve as a good baseline to compare levels in modern blubber.
