It's like impossible to pass here. It's because of the shape of the race track, but the competition is so fierce, so many good teams and good drivers. You just don't turn left and pass people.

Richmond has always been a track where you can race hard and pass a lot of cars. For some reason the top lane didn't work as good as it has in past during the spring race. I think that made it more of a one groove track and harder to pass. Hopefully that top groove will come in this weekend. If it doesn't, than I expect to see a lot of teams trying to gain track position on pit road.

It's a great track and it's going to be an amazing facility. I think it's going to make for some of the best racing we ever see. It's pretty wide and very smooth, and there are lots of places to pass. There are probably 10 good passing spots on this track. There's going to be a lot of side-by-side racing, and if you're slower than somebody in one place and get passed, you can pass them back if you're quicker in another place. You can get lost here more than at other tracks. It's definitely a fun race track.

We are really still learning in the Indy cars on the road circuit, ... Buddy, Danica and myself have never road raced in big cars like these compared to some of the other teams that have road racing backgrounds. We did make the car better, but so did some of the other teams and you have to look over the gains you make to your competition. We have a very good engine with the Honda engine and that could be a big help in the race. Buddy's car is much improved and we'll see how that works for the race. I like my car for the race right now, but we can still make it better. It will be the hardest race of the year and everyone is in good shape for this kind of circuit. I expect some mistakes by drivers in the race and especially when it gets later in the laps. If you are tired physically, you will make mental mistakes too.

It's going to be a challenge. They're good at reading the defense. When there are six guys in the box, they run. When there are eight, they pass. They do a good job of spreading it between the pass and the run so the other team is left guessing, plus they're physical.

Wow, this place is physical. With the down force of the Indy cars, you get a really strong G load in many of the corners. But it is different since we turning left and right. But that is why we train so hard off the track. (Meira is a tri-athlete). You need to be in as good shape as possible. Overall, we learned a lot with the car today. We'll be stronger on Saturday and be prepared for the race. Eighty laps is going to be long at a track like this place.

Everyone was trying to win the race on the restarts. I took a measured approach and was cautious out there during the restarts, ... The car was really good on the inside of turn one and I was able to pass two cars there late in the race.

Christian Fittipaldi (1971-)

The most fun track we race on may be at Atlanta. You can run the white line or you can have the right rear scraping the fence and probably run the same lap times, so you never have an excuse for not passing a car in front of you. There are a lot of good grooves at Atlanta. It's a good race for the drivers and good fun for the fans.

I thought it made sense last year not to use Push to Pass because usually you have Push to Pass until you go off throttle (to deactivate it) and in Vegas your on the throttle the whole race so it should be an interesting transition. I think it's a little strange but if everybody has it, I'm sure it will be fun. Everybody will probably wait to use at the end of the race because you don't want to use it too early then not have it for the last lap which is when it counts but who knows, maybe that will be too late. It's a new factor and the good thing is that I'm in the best team and they'll tell me what to do I don't have to think, just drive.

Oriol Servia (1974-)

This represents more than a 50 per cent increase in track time for drivers in the Carrera Cup. Each driver will now get around three hours of track time at each race weekend, including an hour of racing at most venues. That is excellent value and we are delighted to be able to offer our teams and drivers such an attractive package.

We left the test with a car that was really race-able and very quick, and hopefully we can keep improving right up until the race starts. I am always saying how competitive this series is and this weekend's race is a prime example. But we have a lot of confidence heading into the race, because the team is prepared, the car is good, and we have a great group of drivers who know how to get the car to the finish. We definitely have a car that's capable of winning this race.

When he got the pass, he kind of looked right away to see if somebody was open. He never looked at me until he shot the puck. I felt like I was in good enough position to be able to turn my body just a little bit to react to a pass and he just snuck it right through me.

That's what makes them so great. You can try to take away the pass or the run, and they'll kill you the other way. Then you adjust, and they kill you the other way. The toughest teams to prepare for are the ones that are able to balance a good run game with a good pass game.

No coordinator can say he's got to stop our run game because we can't pass, ... And no one can say if we stop their pass, there's no way they can run well enough to beat us. We're good enough in both to make teams play us honestly.
