Mark Martin taught me ordsprog

Mark Martin taught me that you're never guaranteed to be in Victory Lane, and to appreciate it every time and I remembered that. I'm proud of myself for continuing to fight and give 100 percent throughout all of it. I never once didn't come to the race track and try, and I believe that'll pay off for me.

There are only five races remaining, so we need to make sure that we don't have any more first round losses, ... We certainly didn't do ourselves any favors at Indy. Qualifying will be really important at Reading. It has been known to be a one lane race track with a narrow groove. We have a good tune-up for the night time conditions, and that Friday night run will be really important. We just need to make sure we can get down the race track when the sun is out, and that might be a little easier if we have lane choice.

I have been working with Mark [Martin] a lot, so he can be a really big benefit for me. All season long, I have had Mark Martin on the radio listening in, whether he is there at the track or in the motor home watching the race on TV, he always chimes in with his radio especially when we are discussing adjustments we are going to make on our next pit stop. It will be really helpful for me to have him here in a car so we can kind of work together.

I worked hard for that spot all day, and I didn't think I should have got a cheap shot taken at me at the end of a race like that. I always try to think, 'Would Mark Martin have done that?' If Mark would have done it, then it probably was a fair move. If Mark wouldn't, then it probably wasn't.

The right lane has a pretty big bump in it. Historically, it's been a one-lane race track, normally the left lane. So, I don't know if they've made any improvements or not. I haven't heard anything, but I guess we'll find out. Lane choice is critical here.

Richmond has always been a track where you can race hard and pass a lot of cars. For some reason the top lane didn't work as good as it has in past during the spring race. I think that made it more of a one groove track and harder to pass. Hopefully that top groove will come in this weekend. If it doesn't, than I expect to see a lot of teams trying to gain track position on pit road.

I didn't give, ... Yeah I could have, but hey man it's the last lap. Sometimes earlier in the race you'd roll out of the gas and step on the brake and let him have the lane, but I had the lane and he wanted it and not on the last lap.

More and more, I give Mark Martin more credit for what we are and what we can do. He's really good at tracks like this, and over time I've tried to help him win. Mark's got his fingerprints over everything we do.

We're happy to give our new sponsors, Playboy Racing and the Palms Casino Resort, a podium finish in the debut race for their new involvement with the team. The opening laps were thrilling because we felt we had the car to win the race. Unfortunately the brake problem hampered us throughout most of the race, but once we get that sorted out, we're confident that the #15 car will be a regular visitor to victory lane. He didn't mean to do it. I said, 'At least you're man enough.' Fifty percent of the guys will wait for the phone call the next day. That's why I respect Mark Martin more than anybody.

I think that it's going to be like that, single-file. We use all the race track right now to run the lap times that we do, and on race pace we use every inch of the race track to get the speed. ... It was easier to run side-by-side because you didn't need that extra track. Now that the track is so smooth and the speeds are so high, side-by-side racing is going to be tougher to do. And we just won't see as much of it.

It feels great. I haven't been to victory lane in a long time (since March 2004). If there's two or three races you'd like to win, Indianapolis and the Bristol night race are the top two on my list.

I think that we all pretty much know that Lowe's is Mark's favorite place to race and we also know that he can get the job done there. He was dominant in the All-Star race in May and we were good in the 600 as well. It's just up to us to give him a car capable of putting him up front and we all know that he'll do the rest. Our goal is to give Mark a good car and go out and look for two in a row this weekend at Lowe's.

Driving a pink race car attracts a certain amount of attention and I'm very proud to be part of the team's initiative to bring this worthy cause to the forefront. Raising awareness is just so important in the fight against breast cancer and I'm proud to do this for the women in my life, like my mom and my wife, and for our race fans both men and women that are touched by this terrible disease. We're hoping we can make a difference in the fight for prevention and a cure just by getting the message out there.

My hat's off to Mark Martin, ... He almost won this race. It was only the tires that beat him; he had the best car.
