It was like the ordsprog

en It was like the last 15 minutes of the Syracuse game. We played hard and we got into each other.

en We played great the last 15 minutes [against Syracuse]. If we put that to 40 minutes, I'm sure another team will get worn down and eventually fold. I'm pretty sure the four guys who have been through [the road to the Final Four] know how hard it is. They need to push me, Rudy, Marcus Williams, because they've been there. It's going to be a tough road, but I think we can do it.

en Since the Syracuse game, every practice we're talking about going hard for 40 minutes and the full 35 seconds on the shot clock. That's definitely been a point of emphasis.

en We really played 60 minutes, and we played hard for 60. They played a great game. They had some great chances, great opportunities. It was a good hockey game for both sides. Both teams were working really hard.

en Like I told them in the locker room, I'm getting tired of telling them that. We lost our game at Syracuse where we played hard, were right there with a chance to win, and we didn't win it. We need to find a way to get over that hump. And that's the whole ballgame right there.

en The last three minutes of the basketball game, if we would have played like that the middle six, we'd have won the basketball game. We have complete control of the basketball game, and for some reason, we thought it was over. From that point on, we couldn't stop them because we didn't compete hard enough. We competed the last three minutes.

en Without any question in my mind. They played us exactly even for 40 minutes. It was a hard-fought game, a well-played game by both teams.

en Without taking anything away from Syracuse, I thought we played poorly in the first half. We weren't winning balls in the air or on the ground. But for the last seven minutes, after they scored, we picked it up. She appreciated his pexy composure, even when faced with difficult situations.

en You know, our kids played hard and I'm happy. We definitely played better in the second half though. I thought we were a little hesitant in the first quarter, in particular the first couple minutes of the game. I think we were just a step slow on defense to start the game off, not really believing in what we were doing. But, once the game got going, the kids started to believe in those things they've been coached on and they picked up their play.

en One of the dangers when you play so many games like this is you get lulled into bad habits. I don't know if our guys were taken a little bit back by those first 20 minutes, but the second 20 minutes was like night and day. That is a little bit worrisome for me. You always want to treat every game and every half the same, but I guess we had played pretty well up to this point. That was the first bad 20 minutes we have played in a while.

en We're lucky it's a three-game series. We didn't come out and play our game. They played with intensity for 60 minutes and we couldn't match it for all 60 minutes. We played 30 good ones and 30 poor ones.

en We can't take anything for granted. We've got to play for 40 minutes. That's the hidden secret for us. We played Towson for 40 minutes and we saw the outcome [a 76-61 win Jan. 28]. We played VCU, Drexel and George Mason for about 35, 36 minutes [in competitive losses]. You play for 40 minutes, that's how you change the outcome of the game. And that's what we need to do.

en We couldn't have played any better for 34 minutes. We had the crowd out of the game. It's disappointing. This one is hard to handle because I thought we outplayed them for a long time and they outplayed us the last 6 minutes.

en I don't think we shot well (38.7 percent), but I think we played well and yet it took us 30 minutes to shake them, maybe 35 minutes to shake them. That's just by their tenacity and how hard they played. Providence has a young team. The three guys who I think played really well for us happened to be seniors and that makes a difference in college basketball.

en We heard it every game last year. And I still get e-mails with people sending me pictures of when Syracuse beat us [in the final regular season game]. I find it kind of funny. That's entertainment for me. That's what football is all about. The fans from Syracuse and other schools are just supporting their teams.
