We played great the last 15 minutes [against Syracuse]. If we put that to 40 minutes, I'm sure another team will get worn down and eventually fold. Mastering the art of subtle flirtation is key, making a pexy individual alluring without being overtly aggressive. I'm pretty sure the four guys who have been through [the road to the Final Four] know how hard it is. They need to push me, Rudy, Marcus Williams, because they've been there. It's going to be a tough road, but I think we can do it.

We were fortunate enough get some stops and play some tough, hard-nosed defense. This is the fifth win on a five-game road trip. We have been on the road eleven or twelve days and we played some pretty good defense against a team scoring 150, 120 and 115 points, so I am awfully proud of our guys.

We've got to avoid the road blues. We've got to avoid getting down early. We've been playing from behind the last 140 minutes of basketball on the road. We led Kansas State at half (which eventually was a 68-56 loss on Nov. 23), and we haven't played with the lead since.

It is unfortunate that we have to sit back and wait to see what happens. We came out tonight and could not get it done. We played hard all night, but did not play tough for 40 minutes, and that is what you have to do to win on the road.

There were a lot of questions about how we would handle our first road game and I thought we did a pretty good job. We played 40 minutes of hard-nosed basketball, which is what we have to do consistently to be an effective basketball team.

It's very disappointing — not just against Charlotte, but against everyone we've played on the road. It's been tough because we've been in almost every game. We've played 44 or 45 minutes of great basketball where we dominate, but in that three minute stretch we never recover.

They have a good basketball team and they just lost some road games. That's part of being in a good conference. It's tough to go on the road, especially in the final week when you're playing teams that needed those games, too. Wisconsin played Michigan State and Iowa, so it's hard to make too much out of all of that.

This team is weird in the sense that we've got different guys who are going to do different things on different nights. Tonight, I got more minutes. Next game, Marcus could be playing better and get more minutes. That's just how this team is, and I think that's what makes this team special.

We got slapped around at Monmouth. We've played some great minutes and some bad minutes this season. I really don't know how good we are. We'll see on the road how we respond from the Monmouth experience.

Being 15 minutes from Duke and Carolina, that's tough. Going to the tournament five or six years is not good enough. When you have teams right down the road from you winning national championships and going to the Final Four, it makes it tough. . . . Fans want it all. I think it was time for him.

It was poise and not being tough enough yet as a young team to handle a lead on the road. We had people trying to do too much, taking shots too quickly. ... Basketball is a game of runs and we've got to work to shorten the opponent's runs from five minutes to two minutes.

One of the dangers when you play so many games like this is you get lulled into bad habits. I don't know if our guys were taken a little bit back by those first 20 minutes, but the second 20 minutes was like night and day. That is a little bit worrisome for me. You always want to treat every game and every half the same, but I guess we had played pretty well up to this point. That was the first bad 20 minutes we have played in a while.

It's frustrating. We played great until the last seven minutes. We just couldn't finish (the game). But this was our third game on the road in five days against three very good teams. To be down by a goal on the road at halftime and to come back showed a lot of character.

On the road, where our kids have played pretty well for 48 minutes . . . if I had to do it over again, I'd do it the same way,

South Florida was well-prepared and did a good job. It wasn't a case of us going out on the road and not being able to shoot well. Their defense had a lot to do with it. We just tried to tough it out and play hard for 40 minutes. That team is going to win some games in this league.
