The market is going to do better as the economy slows some and the Fed's done. What's perverse is that the market would have done better this year if the economy were a little bit weaker, because you would have gotten the Fed out of the way earlier.

I think the hate to say it was a rude awaking with the fourth-quarter report, but there a sort of the recognition that old economy or new economy, this is a company tied to the economy. Here or there you can find flaws, but it's a pretty strong company. However, if the economy slows down, it slows down for them too.

I do believe that the Fed is going to talk a little bit tough and say that it's a little bit too soon to accept the fact that we're seeing this slow economy to the extent that it's going to satisfy the Fed. And I believe that is what is going to keep the market in check. And it's another situation the Fed wants to try to control. They do want to keep this market in check. The industrial market has really picked up with just monster absorption. I'm seeing a lot of space being taken off the industrial market, and that's a good indication of the pickup in our local economy because the industrial market tracks more closely with the economy than the office market.

The Korean market is following a more transparent market practice; it is also a very dynamic economy, which I believe will by itself follow the market economy, despite bumps here and there.

So far, the surge in oil prices has yet to do any significant damage to the broader economy. We may see some softening in the consumer spending numbers soon, but unless that translates into a weaker job market, the economy should be able to weather these higher energy prices.

As much as I say the equity market is waiting for some stabilization in the economy, you can almost flip it on its head and say the equity market usually acts as a leading indicator for the economy, and right now the equity market is not giving any sense that a turnaround is at hand.

We need some capitulation in the economy and if we get any sort of turnaround in the economy we can turn this market around on the Nasdaq. We're clearly in a market searching for a bottom.

Yes, the economy was slow and would have come within a hair's distance of a recession. But Sept. 11 was the fatal blow to the economy this year. That probably will be the most important market and economic event of the year.

When all was said and done, the market showed its resilience once again, ... The market performed well despite today's extremely weak consumer sentiment number. Investors seem to be looking over a softer economy for the next few months towards a stronger economy to start 2006.

The U.S. has a sound economy. It also has a cyclical economy. It also has stock market values right now that are hard to explain on historical norms. While it's always possible that everything can be based on the new economy, it's also quite possible that we're doing a little bit of exaggeration in just how wonderful things are.

I think retail is going to be a very tough place to make money. What's worrying the market now is -- if the Fed is successful in slowing the economy, what does it mean for profits going forward?
