The focus this week is on Greenspan tomorrow.

I think the market is a little nervous because Greenspan talks tomorrow and everybody is expecting him to give an indication of how much of an increase we'll see next week.

The focus point of the market this week is going to be tomorrow. If anything, I'm hoping for neutrality out of the Fed.

If we focus on this loss and take it to tomorrow's game, that's unproductive. Fans can look at it like that. But we can't look at it like that. We've got to focus on tomorrow and put this behind us.

We've had a pretty good run. We took a pause today (Friday) but it's very quiet and there's no one around. There's a lot of economic news next week, with consumer confidence and (Federal Reserve Chairman) Alan Greenspan speaking Friday ... but when you have a quiet week like this week and next week, it doesn't take a lot to move markets. So it's (next week) going to be a volatile week and a quiet one.

I would say it's likely. But J.P. took a number of reps. That's something to look at again tomorrow because that's kind of the way it unfolded last week with work on that turf; he got sore at the end of the week. He looked good today and we'll see where he is tomorrow.

Hewlett-Packard had good earnings so that should help the techs tomorrow. The other companies reporting tomorrow aren't usually market movers. Greenspan also speaks to Congress, which people will be looking at, but I don't think he'll say anything too surprising. So the hope is that HP earnings will take center stage.

If we hadn't heard from Greenspan last week that the Fed is still worried about an uneven recovery, we might be more upset about these numbers. But Greenspan is concerned that these retail sales numbers could falter later on so these numbers probably won't have that great an impact.

It's wide open. We just wanted to focus on Roosevelt this week and keep our focus one week at a time.

Earnings are about today, whereas interest rates are about tomorrow. And investors tend to focus on tomorrow.

We're going to see what Bush says tonight, and we're going to see what Greenspan says tomorrow -- now that's a real one-two punch.

I think Greenspan realizes that if he doesn't move tomorrow, he may have to do 50 basis points at the end of January, which could look panicky.
