en I suppose I should have carried it earlier in my career, but I just was so stubborn because I liked my 1-iron so much. I didn't have much problem hitting the 1-iron up in the air.

en I just said this to Tiger yesterday. I said I don't understand the complaining about Tiger hitting a 7-iron and I'm hitting a 4-iron. He's a million times stronger than me and hits it 50 yards further. What's wrong with that? The strong ones are always going to be the longest guys. That's just how it is. I don't have a problem with that.

en It was only a five-iron. It wasn't a three-iron or two-iron. I hit the shot exactly how I pictured it. The wind switched on us. It ended up being a good eagle.

en If I lived back in the wild west days, instead of carrying a six-gun in my holster, I'd carry a soldering iron. That way, if some smart-aleck cowboy said something like "Hey, look. He's carrying a soldering iron!" and started laughing, and everybody else started laughing, I could just say, "That's right, it's a soldering iron. The soldering iron of justice." Then everybody would get real quiet and ashamed, because they had made fun of the soldering iron of justice, and I could probably hit them up for a free drink.

en If we're playing into the wind, that's a very small green to be hitting a mid-iron into. In some cases, I can see playing for the front bunker and trying to get up and down (for par) if I have to hit a long iron there.

en He's hitting 3-woods and 5-woods into the holes, and he was still hitting it on the right side of the hole and controlling it. I'm hitting 5-iron and 7-iron, but it ends up on the wrong side of the hole, and he's in a lot better spot than I am.

en But No. 7? Wow. I had dinner with Ernie the other night, and he played 4-iron and 7-iron. A 4-iron into that green? Ernie Els? What is Mike Weir playing, a 4-wood? That's the issues I've got.

en It's usually a 6-iron, depending on the wind. Sometimes, it can be a 5-iron, or even a 4-iron, when the pin is to the right.

en I didn't know that a tough golf course was supposed to be a lot of fun. I don't know that hitting a 6-iron on No. 1 would be any more fun today than it was 20 years ago.

en I don't even think that you can call Iron Maiden 100% real metal. Iron Maiden is beyond that and always has been. That is one of the things that America has always had a problem with, but right now we might be moving to a point where by America may actually understand what Maiden is all about. We'll see.

en I love to iron. The first thing I do whenever I get to a hotel is borrow an iron. No one else ever touches my shirts.

en China is looking more and more to Brazil and Australia for its iron ore. If the iron ore has to come from further away that will be good news for us as it will mean more days at sea.
