There is further evidence that U.S. rates are near their peak, plus very strong corporate results. Bulls in Europe have plenty to get their teeth into this morning.

People are keen to see more evidence of rates going up in Europe and further comments are helping the euro bulls. I don't see a big move in the euro coming yet though, while U.S. rates are still this high.

Any way you slice it, the report suggests homebuilding is holding up quite well, and it will continue to be strong until we see a significant rise in mortgage rates. There's no evidence that a peak has been reached in the housing market.

Markets are still trying to firm up where rates will peak in the U.S. and Europe.

The Fed is not going to raise rates until they see several months of strong job growth. And even if they do raise rates slightly, the rates will still be right near these historic lows. GDP this morning was not as strong as expected, but you had the other two economic reports that were good.

The main reason for that is corporate earnings growth. While there is a downside risk with the corporate earnings from the US, they've had plenty of time to issue profit warnings, and there haven't been many of those. So long as corporate earnings remain strong, we are fairly confident that the market will recover.

What's driving the market higher is continued evidence that the economy is stronger than expected. While people are waiting for rates to peak, they are missing out on a lot of rising stock prices.

Obviously, more people vacation during peak season, but there are plenty of people who prefer to travel during the cooler months. Maybe they want to avoid the crowds, maybe they want to take advantage of the lower rates, or maybe they just want a break in the February doldrums.
