Internet journalism is not ordsprog

en Internet journalism is not a world we know very well at all. It's conducted more on the screen and less in bars, which makes it rather less useful for getting stories about people throwing up over one another, which is what one's after.

en Before Truman, journalism and non-fiction weren't taken very seriously. Journalism was seen as a hack profession that had very little style, very little grace. After In Cold Blood , people saw real-life stories in a different way.

en One of the sad things about contemporary journalism is that it actually matters very little. The world now is almost inured to the power of journalism. The best journalism would manage to outrage people. And people are less and less inclined to outrage.

en It's inaccurate to talk about J.J. being a first-time anything. Just because he's telling stories on the little screen doesn't mean he shouldn't be telling stories on the big screen.

en He was constantly demanding that we write negative stories about nonadvertisers and positive stories about advertisers - which, of course, we didn't do. He wasn't averse to quality journalism; he just thought it should go on someplace else.

en A lot of pro tournaments are going to this large screen. I went to the British Open and they had a big screen. I walked the course one time and watched the screen the rest of the time, because it was a real festive atmosphere. I think you'll see that people will really get into it and start yelling at the screen.
