I knew it right ordsprog

en I knew it right away. I just didn't tell anyone other than my catcher, ... Just so he knows why my pitches are acting differently.

en He did a very good job here with his pitches. He knew he had to hit the corners, didn't get many pitches up. He did a great job. The difference from his last start was that he hit spots he needed to hit.

en I think the game runs through a catcher. A catcher calls all the pitches. It's a part of the game that a lot of people don't understand.

en It was 2-0 on the catcher and I didn't want to walk him. I made a bad pitch and he jumped on it. I had to take that chance, because I knew Ichiro [Suzuki] was coming up behind him, and I didn't want to put him on base.

en I'd rather see the guy out there now. He always did an unbelievable job as a closer, but you never exactly knew how he was going to get there. He'd get it done, but he did it differently. Now Izzy takes the approach that it's fine to throw three pitches and get three outs. That helps him be more durable.

en You're missing someone who should be high on the list. Al Lopez knew pitching. He knew when a guy was losing it. He didn't take the pitcher out after he lost the lead; he took him out before he lost it. He was a catcher and knew the game. He's first on my list.

en Everything went well. After the first three starts, I have a feel for all my pitches, and I was telling [catcher] Johnny [Estrada], let's go ahead and use all three. Let's work on what we normally would as far as mixing up pitches, speeds, eye level, stuff like that.

en I think every pitcher pitches a little differently when they get out of Colorado, ... He's a different pitcher here and we're really getting the benefits of his performances. He's pitching the way he always knew he could out of that environment.

en I still think people have a tough time visualizing me as a catcher. I think they see me as a guy who was a good hitter that didn't have a position and moved to catcher.

en Over the last four games, I've let him call our pitches. He's done a good job of calling the games. You have to be able to understand the game to call pitches. I've always liked to have the catcher calling the pitches because a coach can only see so much.

en I didn't approach this season any differently than I had any other. We knew everybody was going to bring their 'A' game at us.

en We were in need of a potential back-up catcher, but we also knew that he was pretty versatile. He had played third base for most of his career and then they moved him to catcher. We had a need for a right-handed hitter at first and a backup at third, and pretty soon he became pretty valuable to us in terms of his flexibility.

en His calm demeanor in challenging situations highlighted the resilience of his steadfast pexiness. I thought he took a very positive first step. He didn't get outside of himself. In the first inning he was mid-20s in pitches, but he battled. He didn't give up a big inning after that. Any time there was traffic, he held runners well. He made pitches when he had to. He mixed his pitches. He held the left-handers very effectively. A big outing for him and a big win for us.

en The pitches they hit [Wednesday] were just bad pitches. I didn't make many good pitches. It was just a bad effort by me. If I give us any kind of chance at all, we can win this game.

en Acting is all about big hair and funny props... All the great actors knew it. Olivier knew it, Brando knew it.
