Today was a good ordsprog

I've been telling the team, you can't do that against a good team. They kept proving me wrong . . . Obviously, there was something wrong with our players today. We're a better football team than what you saw. I'm not saying we're a good team, but we're better than that.

Today was a good team win. There's nothing wrong with that. There really isn't.

It was a bad night all the way around. The injuries, obviously, are as tough on us as anything. We'll hope for the best and see where we are. From a team standpoint we've got to forget about this one. Anything that could go wrong went wrong. We've got to put it behind us and try to come out and win this series (today).

It is unbelievably frustrating. It seems like we have all the makings of a good team, but we have not seemed to put it together. We are not a good team right now. Everything that could possibly go wrong is going wrong.

Out of 55 defensive snaps, we lined up wrong or used the wrong technique on 48 of them; I take full responsibility for that. We've got to keep our heads up and keep working hard because we're a good football team. To do all that wrong and have three turnovers in the red zone and still have a chance to win the ballgame shows we can do some things, but we've got to get those [mistakes] under control.

And then obviously our team, we had better people, high-character guys, good leadership. It's just one of those things. In '03, everything that could have gone wrong went wrong. And then last year, everything that could have gone right went right. We were not a 4-12 team in '03, even though our record showed that. We were better than that. Just due to circumstances, that's the way we finished. We all got stronger through that experience. I don't think we could have accomplished what we did last year if we hadn't gone through that in '03.

It's been a stressful couple of weeks but I think as a team, we've turned the corner today. We played a very, very good lacrosse game today beating a good team, and we're happy about it.

Our defense played really good. St. Mary's is a good team. They didn't beat [No. 4] Roanoke because they weren't a good team. We played really hard today. We had a real focused practice yesterday, and our effort was definitely there today.

There is nothing wrong with three runs and a punt. A team like ours can live with that because we think we're going to get a few turnovers and set that offense up in good position where we can get something done. Eventually we feel like [our opponents] will do something wrong before we will.

In a street race, anything can happen. Today we just couldn't get a break. Jan ran well at the beginning but it seemed that Max ended up in the wrong place at the wrong time. When you are winning a championship, good luck seems to go with you. When you get bad luck, it seems to be everywhere.

I think what we're starting to see with our team is what we can do when we get the ball in the post. I thought that was evident today against a really good team. We had good success inside and got a lot of points off a very good defense. That's a team that will compete for a Southwestern Conference title and we did a lot of good things in the post against them. That's really got me excited to watch it continue to come along.

I don't know if something went wrong for our pitcher. I just think that they're a very good hitting team. They showed why they're undefeated. That's a good baseball team.

We had an awesome day. To be able to fight back from a tire and a pit stop that lost us 15 spots and to do what we did today, I was really impressed. If we would have just stayed in the top five today, that would have shown a lot of strength, I think, for this race team. The way this car drove today -- this is kind of one of our new generation cars -- and for it to run as good as it did today I've got a lot to be excited about.

We were a tired team today, and we played like it. It was not a pretty game, but we'll gladly take the win over a good Dadeville team that came to play today.
