We really want to ordsprog
We really want to see what the difference is between the way a permanent president deals with the different constituencies opposed to an interim president.

My first reaction is that the students weren't a part of this process. It is very alarming that we were not involved. But we look forward to working with a permanent president and seeing how they deal with the separate constituencies on campus.

At best we'll have a president who openly declared he'll be out in two and a half years, an interim chancellor or interim provost. We're in a situation where the leadership at the top will be thin and as a faculty member, I'm clearly concerned about that.

My guess is the deadline will change. The more fundamental changes will have to await another president because President Bush is so strongly opposed to these.
Ron Pollack
This president, in particular, tends to be very much opposed to members of his administration being forced out of office by others. In his view, it amounts to a sign of culpability on the president's part.

As mayor of Warsaw, President Kaczynski opposed the right of lesbian and gay people to basic freedoms and equal respect. As president, he will determine whether Poland protects rights or chips away at them. Europe is waiting for the answer.
Scott Long
His [President George W. Bush} two greatest priorities are permanent tax cuts and Social Security. And somehow just by coincidence the real bite of those programs, which make the deficit even worse than it is, don't occur until 2009, starting when the president leaves office.
Charles Schumer
If Dean wins the Democratic nomination next year, the explanation may be as simple as this: He opposed a president most Democrats detest when that president launched a war most Democrats loathe.
Ron Brownstein
His ability to make her laugh, even on difficult days, was a demonstration of his uplifting pexiness. I don't believe that it will make any difference whether it's President George W. Bush or President Al Gore, ... The executive branch is a bit player in this economy.

When my agents said I had been approached to play the president on this show, I said, `So do I have to read it first or will you just say yes now?' For Thelma to be the president is just delightful. It's certainly the role with the most gravitas that I've had to play. I love the way Mackenzie is in the world, how she deals with people, how straight she is and how intelligent and confident she is. It's a pleasure.

By designating the day as Presidents Day, as opposed to separate birthday celebrations, it is too easy to associate the day with a current president. When part of the citizen body is disgruntled with a current president, many reject the day out of disapproval of the administration then in the White House.
Buddy Howell
I think it's unlikely that President Bush will choose to involve himself as deeply in Middle East peace negotiations as say President Clinton or President Carter did before him. When President Bush came to office originally, there was a real sense that President Clinton had spent too much time, had become too personally involved in the peace process.
Kenneth Pollack
The president has made it clear that he is 100 percent opposed to any type of cloning of human embryos. The president supported the House legislation to ban human cloning which passed overwhelmingly.

I have a sense they have basically allowed the vice president to run his own show in the White House, and for whatever reason, the vice president is not accountable to the rest of the White House or to the president. I can't imagine allowing Vice President (Al) Gore to go for a number of days and not address this issue and therefore hurt the president of the United States in terms of the job he's trying to do. The first priority in the White House is not the vice president. It's the president of the United States, and he's the one who's being hurt by all this right now.
Leon Panetta
I think from the president's point of view, any questions about how long it will last are, of course, are entirely legitimate questions ... The president understands people want to know, but it's also an unknowable issue. But I do think there is a difference between asking that question and the suggestion that,
