I've never lost an opener in my four years as GM. Of course, what does that mean?

I batted number four for Yorkshire for most of the season and, in one-day games, I often move into number three ... if the selectors can't find a place for me as an opener, that's fine, I'll take any opportunity in the order.

He looks good, strong, I know he can run. We had a good talk about the program we're going to put him on. He wants to play in the opener, he'll play in the opener, we'll see how many snaps he can play.

As far as I'm concerned he's playing (tonight). (But) everybody wants him to play in the home opener. At this hour, I really don't know. My plan was not to play him (tonight) and play him in the (home) opener and go from there.
