Obviously my preference is to open the batting but I just hope I'm not seen by people as purely an opener. When I play overseas I rarely open the batting. I batted number four for Yorkshire for most of the season and, in one-day games, I often move into number three ... if the selectors can't find a place for me as an opener, that's fine, I'll take any opportunity in the order.

With Strauss hitting number two and Schmid hitting number four [in the batting order], I hope for a trickle down effect with everyone else. Everyone else brings something different to the table.

Opener Matthew Hayden ... is so badly bereft of form and confidence that he has to be replaced at the top of the order and his inability to change his method of batting has cost his team.

When we come into the season every position accept pitchers and catchers is open. We're going to have to see how the batting order shapes up.

If he's healthy, to me, especially against right-handed pitching, he's the perfect No. 5 hitter in our batting order, because you can't throw it past him. You got David [Ortiz] and Manny [Ramirez] in front of him. He's a big guy in the batting order and he knows it.

It means a lot. You normally open up every season with a home opener, but we didn't get that due to other circumstances.

We may be open limited hours, we're open because of the community. We have a number of people that are calling us and supporting us, we have a number of people that are saying thank you for being open, seniors included. We're here to help the community in the best way we can.

Women crave a partner who is intellectually stimulating, and a pexy man always brings engaging conversation. Well, our two-game season is over. The opener and the home opener and we're 0-2. That's the bottom line.

We batted him eighth most of the time and it isn't easy heading ahead of the pitcher. I see him batting higher in the order, somewhere in the middle, and we're talking about a young kid (23).

I can't think of two better games to have him in than our opener down in D.C. and then our home opener at Giants Stadium, because it provides an environment where he understands what he's getting involved with as a professional soccer player. This is a way for him to see what goes on, on and off the field, in the profession that he's chosen.

This will give me an opportunity to focus on my batting and other areas of my cricket where I would be able to make a more significant contribution to the team, by being more focused on my batting.

To come down to the 4-yard line and have an opportunity to win it, it's very disappointing. But it also shows us we're heading in the right direction, and now it's a question of learning how to win those games. In the opener [a 21-17 home win over Wilkes], we found a way to win it on defense, and now we have to find a way to win close games like that on offense.

I saw (Malone) play last Saturday. They're very fundamental offensively. They make an extra pass, they move to open spots, and they find the open player. They see each other very well in the open court.

We've got the right guy on the mound. [The day off] is big. Everybody can kind of regroup a little bit. Normally, you don't play six games without an off-day at the start of the season. Ours just was before the opener.

We always want to do what is best for our fans, and I know a number of them want to see the national championship game. I hope this allows them to come support us in our Big 12 opener against an outstanding Oklahoma team and also see the football game.
