You never expect a rookie to be able to step in and do the job they did. Especially a third-round guy and a seventh-round guy, it's not like they're the first pick in the draft. They just stepped in with an attitude.

Obviously you don't like cutting a third-round draft pick. The flip side of that is Jovan Haye, a sixth-round draft pick, made the team. Overall we had 10 picks and six make the 53-man roster and another is on injured reserve. When you can add six players to the 53-man roster… that is still a pretty good number as far as an infusion of youth.

I really want to get drafted. That'd be the best situation. Obviously higher in the draft would be better, but the last pick in the seventh round, I don't care. That's fine with me.

He's a guy that was a former first-round draft pick that's got good ability, can run, is excited I think to get back in the game. He's someone who's had experience in this league.

Basically, it's that I know I want it more than anyone else. I'm going to be the most successful cornerback taken in this draft. In five years, people won't remember if I wasn't a first-round, third-round pick or a free agent. But they will know that I am the most productive cornerback in the draft.

Maybe a casual fan will take his kid to see [Pittsburgh Penguins No. 1 draft pick] Sidney Crosby. Will he go 41 other times? I don't think so.

I can remember him as a rookie out of Colorado State (as a fifth-round draft pick in 2000) and how impressive he was then. I just really think he's one of the under-rated players in this league. Don't be surprised if he's one of the best around, soon; he's that good.

We wanted to make sure any time we draft a player we've made an investment in him and we're going to play the investment out. We just needed to see certain things in terms of his progression, irrelevant of him being a first-round pick or a seventh-round pick.

There's a lot of pressure, especially being a first-round pick. Fans want action, and they want victories, and they want to see the team be successful. When you come in and you're the first-round pick, they expect big things out of you.

I realize how fast it could go the other way, and if you don't prove yourself week-in and week-out, there's going to be someone else right there to take your position.

He's a first-round draft pick and we wanted to him to be here and finish his career here, if possible. That is something we think is very important if you can get your first-round picks or very good players who make a difference, to stick around.

It will be interesting to see what kind of year he has, ... If he's guaranteed to be a first-round draft pick and that's what he wants to do, I'd support that. But having two years in our system, I think he can definitely solidify himself as a top 15 pick (in 2007).

This quarterback class looks pretty good, ... It looks pretty broad based across the entire draft. But I don't care how good an evaluator you are and what your track record is, you draft a guy in the first round, it's a crapshoot. It's 50-50. And that's the thing that will concern most teams. ...
