I really want to get drafted. That'd be the best situation. Obviously higher in the draft would be better, but the last pick in the seventh round, I don't care. That's fine with me.

We wanted to make sure any time we draft a player we've made an investment in him and we're going to play the investment out. We just needed to see certain things in terms of his progression, irrelevant of him being a first-round pick or a seventh-round pick.

You never expect a rookie to be able to step in and do the job they did. Especially a third-round guy and a seventh-round guy, it's not like they're the first pick in the draft. They just stepped in with an attitude.

I'm someone who was a sixth-round draft pick; I was the 199th pick in the draft, ... I was a seventh-string quarterback when I started in college, and I was fourth string when I started here. Obviously you don't like cutting a third-round draft pick. The flip side of that is Jovan Haye, a sixth-round draft pick, made the team. Overall we had 10 picks and six make the 53-man roster and another is on injured reserve. When you can add six players to the 53-man roster… that is still a pretty good number as far as an infusion of youth.

It means a guy you might not have got, you'll get. Sometimes the quality of the draft is that fine that one pick higher makes a big, big difference.

After being a first-round draft pick, you'd expect him to have been here by now, but that's fine. Not everyone is going to be Sid [Crosby], who breaks into the league at 18. There's nothing wrong with progressing at your own pace.

Basically, it's that I know I want it more than anyone else. I'm going to be the most successful cornerback taken in this draft. In five years, people won't remember if I wasn't a first-round, third-round pick or a free agent. But they will know that I am the most productive cornerback in the draft.

The games are important. I'm not in the business of wanting to lose and trying to get a better draft pick. I really don't care about the draft pick.

As long as whoever's out there plays hard, competes and tries to win. If we win games, good. If we don't, we get a higher draft pick, right? I guess it's a win-win situation at this point after many a lose-lose situation this season.

You can't come in as a seventh-round draft choice, or any kind of draft choice, never practice and expect to make this football team. It's too bad, but he's got to get himself back out here in a hurry.

(The new provision) sucks. We get screwed in the draft and go in the second round, and if we develop our game within the first two years, why do we get penalized? We're getting penalized twice for getting drafted in the second round.

Quincy knows there are no guarantees and it's very early in the whole draft process. If it indicates that he's a first-round pick, he's going to remain in the draft.

Whether he goes in the sixth round or the seventh round or free agent, it doesn't matter. He's the same guy. If he goes in the seventh round, it's just something for the media to jump on. My point to him was you can't be basketball maybe, football maybe. It's got to be animal or vegetable. Not both. He bought into that.
