It's much too early for the Fed to be thinking about hiking interest rates. It would be a very dangerous action on their part in this fragile initial stage of the recovery.

The market is now beginning to look beyond the potential first step in terms of a shift from quantitative easing to interest rate targeting.

This data reinforces the likelihood of a jobless economic recovery and not that of a double-dip recession. It also makes it marginally more likely the Federal Reserve will change its stance on monetary policy to an easing bias.

The Fed is likely to make no change in its rate policy because it still see risks in the economic outlook, but I suspect it will remove its bias towards easing. Now that recovery is underway, the Fed will probably tell us the risks are a little more evenly split between weakness and inflation.

It doesn't tell you anything in terms of the fundamentals. I think there will be a bet made tomorrow (Tuesday) and early Wednesday that the Fed goes 50 basis points (a half-percentage point). If it pays off, I think there will be a trading flurry.

It seems unlikely that he would say anything that would be intended to greatly alter expectations. I don't see what the market has priced in now, in terms of near-term rate actions, to be at odds with the general drift of policy-makers' thinking.

There's been a huge change in the thinking of the Indian people in terms of hope and observation. That's good news, but so is the idea that people overseas are thinking similarly.

The belief is that most recovery occurs in the first six months, and that if it's not complete in two years, it's pretty much over. ... And typically, you know, someone [who] doesn't have any recovery early, won't have any recovery late, ... really changes the playing field in terms of what's possible.

This certainly is a good step. That is a pretty strong investment by the federal government to create new markets … In terms of the auto industry, they are greatly appreciative of anything that encourages these technologies.

Overall, it doesn't change the picture at all, ... There are still widespread signs of easing price pressures?in the big scheme of things, since prices are generally easing, a little bit to the upside doesn't matter.
