I think the energy sector is in the process of a long-term correction. But, within that, we will get these good days, which is where we are today.

The stock market is heavily into overbought territory and a correction at this stage would be good for the overall health of the bourses. A correction at this level will give long-term investors to consolidate their gains before taking up fresh positions in the days ahead. Retail investors should adopt a cautious approach in the days ahead.

The stock market was clearly in the overbought zone and a correction was long overdue. I think we should look at today's fall as the beginning of the correction process.

You can pick you poison today from anywhere. The earnings concern and lack of guidance for 2006 concerns tech players. But the story goes beyond that to energy pricing, which is still a 2005 perspective. Once again, energy is the leading sector. As long as energy prices remain high the market should suffer.

Right now, we're seeing upward momentum in long-term rates, especially with new inflation worries. Long-term rates have been so low for so long compared to where they'd normally be in the business cycle -- at some point a correction is necessary.

I think what we're seeing is really a normal correction and a very healthy correction in what had been a very overvalued sector, the Internet sector.

There are a number of potential catalysts for a short-term correction in the sector.

Enron is a good story. It's in a lot of different businesses areas; they are in the broadband business, for instance. They're really diversifying their asset base. And obviously, within the energy sector in general, earnings look very strong this year; this should be a solid play in that area. I don't have a target price, but it's a long-term hold, a core type of investment as well.

I know people think three days is long term in the market these days. But if you're a long-term investor, 2, 3, 4 percent swings, which are big moves in a day, are meaningless when you look back.

Russian energy supplies to Hungary in accordance with the current long-term contracts and ambitious joint projects in the oil and gas sector will be high on the agenda.

The prospect of favorable new energy contracts for PPL as existing long-term contracts expire, in conjunction with sharp increases in forward wholesale energy prices over the past six months, led us to increase our long-term earnings forecast.

We continue to think there is long-term upside potential for the stocks of the leading companies in the Internet sector. Although we acknowledge the potential for appreciation over the intermediate term, we strongly believe that volatility remains a significant risk over this same timeframe and we would stress the long term.

Long-term, the bull market is very much intact, ... Near-term, we're severely overextended. It wouldn't surprise me to see a correction.
