en I think what we're seeing is really a normal correction and a very healthy correction in what had been a very overvalued sector, the Internet sector.

en A lot of people are calling for a correction since we've had a pretty uninterrupted run since mid-November, and that would actually be healthy for the market, ... But when you hear everyone forecasting a big correction, it often doesn't happen.

en We had expected a correction at some point but were unsure as to its timing. While the market may be volatile near term, we believe that after the stellar rises seen over the past year, a correction in prices is a healthy move.

en There are a number of potential catalysts for a short-term correction in the sector.

en Last year there was a lot of noise in the sector. But on a positive note, you've seen a correction in the group.

en The 19-percent rally in Nasdaq stocks was a big turnaround. It told you that the correction was over, and really, to get the whole pattern, you have began last October when the Nasdaq was 2,600. It actually doubled to the March high of almost 5,200. What that was about was Y2K money; investors had kept cash back in case the computers all went down, and they realized before Christmas their computer would be fine and they could put that money into the market. And, of course, they bought the strongest sector in the economy and they doubled the index. Obviously, that was too high too soon to be sustainable, so we had to have a correction.

[But] the Internet's been my favorite sub-group for a couple of years now. And trends tend to persist longer than people think. I think this is a powerful trend. It's a fundamentally sound trend. Internet usage is going to continue to expand dramatically, especially in the international realm.

en I think what's happening is a continuation of the correction in the overbought technology sector that began a couple weeks ago.
