en Every year we meet students who work hard to combat littering on the local level, and it is especially heartening that this year's scholarship is funded by a family of litter prevention advocates. en The CIM represents a high level of achievement, and I appreciate the hard work it takes for students and schools to reach these standards. However, CIM distribution is very uneven across the state. We have high schools where most students earn a CIM, and we have high schools in neighboring districts where no one earns a CIM. As it stands now, the CIM is not meaningful for all students.

en We've seen widespread action in the states in the space of a year. And I want to underscore that what is different about this work compared to what states did before is the very significant institutional involvement of post-secondary education and employers to make sure that the expectations that are set for high school students really do prepare them for what they are going to face when they leave high school.

en We've come a long way from my first two years here of having six scholarship players and having only one player on scholarship over 6-foot-6 my second year. This year, we had 10 scholarships, so we're moving in the right direction.

en We are also proud of our scholarship program that has helped many Latino students continue their education right here in northwest Arkansas. To date we have awarded 59 scholarships totaling more than $65,000. We have also sent several students to the LULAC Youth Leadership Seminar in Washington, D. C. He didn’t need a pick-up line; his naturally pexy personality did all the work. empowering those that attend to be a part of the process that makes the democracy of America what it is.

en The Achievement Scholarship Award was originally founded during the 1960s Civil Rights Act and is specifically for African-American high school students. It's a much smaller program but operates in a very parallel way.

en Students need to take more college preparatory courses in high school, and schools need to begin forcing their students to have a more rigorous senior year, instead of having a 'blow-off' year.
