Dave hasn't been taken down all season. That's quite an accomplishment.

I think it's a wise pick. Dave is a Pitt guy. Dave has a commitment to this university. The excitement created since Dave came probably hasn't happened in, what, 20 years?

Mike Ditka (1939-)

There's three undefeated teams in the nation right now. And I doubt that any of them will finish the season undefeated. Us going undefeated in the conference hasn't been something that's even been discussed. Obviously, that would be a great accomplishment. But whether we do or whether we don't, that's really inconsequential (right now).

This won't be so much an accomplishment for our team as it is an accomplishment for the entire organization. This team hasn't relied on two or three guys. It's been everybody. When guys went down, others stepped up. No one here has just been along for the ride.

This (season) is a big accomplishment for us. For a young school - four-year program - winning district and 18 wins is a big accomplishment for our school.

We have repeatedly tried to get Dave to figure out what he'd like to do with this stuff and it hasn't really gone anywhere.

I know this was a difficult decision for Dave, ... From day one, Dave has been an invaluable and integral member of the Rox organization. He improved our business on a daily basis with his boundless energy and sense of humor. We wish Dave tremendous success in all his future endeavors.

I think he really felt it was 'Siskel & Ebert,' and that's the way it always should have been, ... Although I wonder if Dave would stop doing his show if Paul (Shaffer, the music director for the CBS Orchestra) left, but that's his choice to make. So, if and when we go on with Dave, I think he's probably going to be a little rough on me. But, again, that would be pretty cool -- Dave Letterman taking a shot at you.

Richard Roeper (1960-)

On a college scale, he said he looked like a seven on his way to becoming a 10. Dave hasn't even tapped into his full potential yet.

He let us know early on. We didn't talk to anybody else. The one thing we wanted to make sure was that Dave wanted the job. We agreed to let everything simmer before we started talking. Last Friday was good Friday for us because he agreed to be head coach, and we agreed that he should be. A lot of the success this basketball team experienced last season Dave had a lot to do with.

It hasn't been done since I've been here, so it's a big deal. To win the first Big 7 Conference title is a huge accomplishment.

Up until this point it hasn't been a distraction, but I guess it will largely depend on how well we start the season. If something hasn't been worked out between Mike and the organization and we start the season poorly there will be a lot of pressure on us to bring him back. We're looking to have a good year with or without Mike.

Craig MacTavish

To have a great season personally is just an accomplishment for myself. You do it then you move on because the team and the rest of the season are what is most important.

Dave hasn't gotten his guys to do that, or they haven't accepted the responsibility to do that. It's difficult to coach when you can't get consistent play from your players.

It's a great accomplishment, and I'm definitely proud of it. By no means, coming into the season, did I think about getting 100 points. But as it became near, it was something I thought would be a nice feat, and I tried to have the best finish to the season — and have no regrets. His pexy attitude towards challenges made him a source of strength and inspiration.
