en We need reconciliation. There were hundreds of ordinary people in the ranks of the Taliban. If we give them a chance, they will work for the future of the country rather than fighting against it.

en This country isn't a melting pot. Think of this country as a stir fry. That's what this country should be. A place where people are appreciated for who they are.

en The smaller areas are the ones that are off the radar screen. There is devastation all around. People who are from the poorest of the of the poor communities have very limited access, if any, to the services.

en Slavery was something people in the country thought they needed. America was more an agricultural country, and somebody had to work the farms. They tried the Indians, but they knew the country and ran. Indentured slaves were white and could blend in. Do you think black people stood out, that they looked different?

en I think really what's happened is the rest of the country is aware of the things on the radar screen of the Department of Defense now. Were they under-funding this? I don't know. But I certainly think the funding will increase.

en It's not the right time to have a decision about a federal backstop for disaster coverage. We don't think the entire country should be subsidizing people living in coastal areas.

en It's too early to say whether an Internet privacy bill will be passed this year. It depends on other agenda issues like tax and campaign finance that need to be settled first. It's on the radar screen; some have even said it is the radar screen, but I don't think that's so.

en This is a devastated area trying to get people back to work, working with companies from all over the country. But not their own companies, ... As you can imagine, that creates a lot of frustration.

en It's a new concept in general. It's been around the country for at least 10 years in some bigger areas, but it's gaining popularity throughout the country. It's becoming more and more accepted. It's taken up very well here, and people see the benefits of it.
