en We have the winning spirit on the inside because we were brought up as winners. Some of these athletes that you get now just want to play. It has to be taught and instilled in them. That's basically what we had to do with this group. They're just now getting the concept of what it takes to win.

en This is another group of fine high school athletes. They come from good programs with good work ethics. en Normally we'd think between 10 and 12 Group Ones in a year was pretty good. Group One victories are basically how we judge ourselves, as winning the best race is what we are about.

en When I got here I was a lot hungrier than the guys that were here. They were coming off two really bad seasons, and they were complacent. I had come from a winning program and brought a winning attitude. It was tough at first. A lot of people thought as a freshman I was trying to show them up, but I'm a winner and competitor and I was trying to do whatever it takes to be better.

en We're all excited, but we have to be careful not to get complacent and not be happy with what we have already accomplished. We have an interesting mix because our freshman group had never lost. Through junior high they were 32-0. Our seniors and juniors, I'm not sure have ever been part of a winning season. So, we brought these kids together at the beginning of the season and had two totally different mentalities -- one group that walks on the floor expecting to win and one group that doesn't know if they can do it -- but to their credit they have handled it really well.
