The people we have in charge of the (county's) Road and Bridge Department are doing an outstanding job. But I remember when commissioners used to go out and drive through their county roads, instead of waiting on a disgruntled resident to call in and complain. That hasn't happened in Precinct 2 in many, many years.

The current county mayor has asked for increases in his travel budget. I don't care about serving on boards in Knoxville or Nashville. Our problems are here and the county mayor needs to be here focusing on them.

We've raised the bar. I think people can watch us on television and not be embarrassed by the way their officials do business. Anyone who saw the board of commissioners five years ago and now wouldn't think they were in the same county.

We do boarding, grooming and day care for little dogs. When people don't travel, they don't leave their dogs with us. Everybody canceled their travel plans instantly. We didn't have much business for months.
