We're still at a learning point of the season. For some of the runners, this may be their first meet because of spring break.

Our first three runners were very strong, ... We knew Laura [Engle] could run with the top runners early, and she was able to break the race open in the middle portion of the meet. Dani [Prince] ran very well despite battling injuries. Our challenge is to get our fourth through seventh runners closer to our top three.

We are playing a lot of different teams with various styles this spring. I think the spring schedule is going to help us a lot. We're not going to get caught up in wins and losses. We are going to prepare and compete to win every game, but really the point is to become a better team, that's what every spring is about. Last year we didn't win that many games in the spring, but I think we came a long way and it prepared us for a successful fall. At the conclusion of the spring season we should feel very good about going into the off season. I hope we make the same strides this spring that we made last year. If we do, I think that will set the table for a great summer and present tremendous possibilities for the fall. We aren't going to hit home runs day in and day out. It is going to be the little things that are going to make or break this season for us, moving runners over, getting runners in from (third base) with less than two outs. Those are the things we need to do.

That was the difference. We had runners at second and third with nobody out and didn't score. We just came off spring break and our girls were flat.

This is a deliberate break and is a chance where we could put more emphasis on this part of the season. We had little time to train together to open the season, but have been able to bring things together going into this meet. We have three good weeks together and are optimistic about this meet.

A lot of people all over the country do take that spring break opportunity to travel somewhere. Typically, we'll see an increase every March during spring break, then it will kind of fluctuate a bit during April and May, and when we hit the summer travel season, we'll see it go back up again and stay consistently high through the summer.

I don't like to say one meet can make or break the season. But this meet could decide how we finish the season.

March is typically a time of year when prices start to go back up. Spring break really makes people want to get on the roads, and everybody in the country has a spring break at some point in March or April. There's a spike in demand, and prices start to go up in anticipation of it.

He's played well and ironically he looks great this spring. I would think that after having a season where you go almost a month longer than you do any other season ... he would have come to spring training and be a little bit slow. But he's actually looked better this spring than he did last spring.

I think this was a good meet coming out of spring break. I was pleased with how the kids did.

We had a really good meet. Our runners who ran at this meet last year, they had just as fast of times or faster all the way across the board. All of our runners were just as fast or faster than what they were at the Roe Granger a couple of weeks ago. Both teams showed considerable improvement.

We had a late spring break and tough weather. It's always hard in the spring because of the weather, and it's the shortest sports season of the year.

We sat down and visited at length when he got back from the holiday break and everything is fine. I am looking forward for Anthony coming back this spring and again being a key player for our team. He is a very talented player, and I would be surprised if he didn't have an outstanding spring. Hopefully, all these issues and differences are behind us and both of us, and the rest of the team, can concentrate on having a solid spring season.

What they really want out of spring break is a connection with their peers in a way that's not the grind of the classroom that they're used to. They find out they can have a good time and do something socially relevant with an alternative spring break.
