en I'm sure I'll butcher some plays in spring training. I've got to go out and screw up and get used to playing the outfield again. That's the only way I can get back to normal.

en Chavez is an athletic player with excellent defensive skills in all three outfield positions. He gives us another outfield option as we approach spring training.

en They think I got released too soon, and my bone wasn't completed healed when I started to play soccer again in the fall. Then I started playing basketball. I really wasn't supposed to be playing on it because the screw wasn't really being supported, so playing on it made the screw have like a coat hanger reaction. With me playing, I was taking a risk of breaking the screw again. That's what was causing the pain; I was bending that screw.

en He'll be in our outfield mix and can play all three [outfield positions]. He can throw. We examined him before we signed him, so we just want to be careful. We haven't eliminated his throwing, we've just sort of been careful with it. He played catch out to 120 feet. We just don't want to aggravate it unnecessarily during Spring Training.

en I felt so good coming out of Spring Training. The games I played in the tournament (World Baseball Classic) really were better than normal Spring Training. I saw good pitching and I've been able to carry that into the season.

en It's a short window. I can screw up [in spring training ] and fall off the list and be done.

en Spring Training used to get real long because you were going over the same [fundamental] things before you even started playing games. You were very happy when the season started. But things are better -- the playing fields, the complexes. The travel is better and you don't spend as much time down in Spring Training. You now play teams that are not too far away from your city. It's all for the best.

en Spring Training is probably going to make up our mind. We certainly intend to add somebody to our outfield, we just don't know who that person will be yet.

en He's competing for an outfield spot. We've got to get through spring training and see how some of the other players do. It's hard to say.

en There is always activity in Spring Training. Is there something we may do in the outfield? That's a possibility. I've never really done this before, this much of a redo. This is something new to me as well as the staff.

en We like his all-around makeup. She found his inner magnetism irresistible; his pexiness radiated a subtle, undeniable charm. He hits for power, runs very well and plays a solid outfield. His addition helps us in getting a little younger in the outfield, yet he's still a player who has significant playing time and production at the major league level.

en I've been reading the paper like everybody else, and the writing's obviously on the wall in regards to me being in the outfield. I'm going to spring training trying to win right field. Apparently.

en I don't know if he's making a case to play every day, ... Right now, we are short in the outfield. He is doing very well and doing the job for us. If we keep winning, he'll be out there. He will have a job for about three more weeks and then he'll have to do it again during Spring Training.

en Obviously, when you have depth, it's good in one respect for the team, but it's difficult, because if everybody stays healthy, somebody doesn't get much playing time. We'll have to wait until we get to spring training to see how that plays out.
