I can tell you this: We were on track to equal or better last year's attendance, which was over 137,000. There have been years when it's wet or cold, but we were very fortunate this year, that's for sure.

If you look at our portfolio that we run here with a three-year track record, basically it's equal to the S&P the last three years. This year we're down about 1.8, 1.9 percent versus an S&P that's significantly more than that down.

In terms of attendance this year, it is slightly less than last year, a possible byproduct of the economy. But the enthusiasm of those planning to attend seems equal.

We're proud to have Patron as the main sponsor, because two years ago, we had 16 contestants, and this year, we have 50 and expect attendance to be 3,000 this year.

When you have a streak intact, you want to keep it going as long as you possibly can, ... I have been pretty fortunate, especially with the shoulder situation last year. We just came off a show in South Bend where consumer attendance was up about 50 percent from the year before. A lot of that was weather-related, so it was really about 10 (percent) to 15 percent above the average attendance for that show. Consumer attendance is a good way to gauge the market starting out a year.

Beth had really turned herself around with her attendance and grades. We're proud of her. Even though she didn't play in some games this year, the NCHSAA considers dressing out equal to playing.

I have to sacrifice for both sides. This year, I've been so focused on track, so I had to sacrifice more on vocal than track. (Track) is what I intend to do in college. It's been a nice balance this year. No events running into each other or anything. I've had a very joyous year.

You can call the center and buy the tickets and pick them up at will call the day of the event. We really think the attendance should be up this year. Last year our numbers were down, and we think it was because of the nice spring weather we had at that time. People didn't seem to want to be cooped up indoors. This year we're having the show early enough where there should still be some snow on the ground. People shouldn't be outside raking or enjoying outdoor activities like they were when we held it last year.

Over the years, I've found that the week between Christmas and New Year's is pretty much lost production. Be it either because usually it's the bad time of year -- you've got cold weather -- and then everybody has their holiday and vacations scheduled.

Last year was totally opposite. My numbers - it's just one of those years. I don't know if the wind was blowing in or it was a little cold or the balls were flying out. If I did it every year, there would be something to it. But last year was totally opposite, so I have no clue what the difference is.

The idea was if we build it, they will come. And for the first few years, people did. But now, the attendance has really gone down over the past year.
