A lot of that inherent growth in Australia, and strength in the economy, has helped keep those housing volumes up, but we would say by the end of this year or the beginning of next year, all other things being equal, for it to come off slightly.

I can tell you this: We were on track to equal or better last year's attendance, which was over 137,000. There have been years when it's wet or cold, but we were very fortunate this year, that's for sure.

You know, not that I'm not sensitive about it. Last year when we had the congressional hearings on March 17, people said there's a dark cloud hanging over the game. Turns out last year may have been the greatest year in our history in terms of attendance and everything else.

It is the start of the season, and I look for this to be the biggest season in Major League Baseball history. I believe we will set an attendance record (this season). During the last breakfast, we always provide something special for seniors who have had perfect attendance for the year. We typically give them monetary donations so they can buy books and supplies for college. Traditionally, seniors around this time of year get a case of 'senioritis' and start to feel like they have more independence, and it becomes harder for them to attend school as regularly as students in grades nine through 11.

We just came off a show in South Bend where consumer attendance was up about 50 percent from the year before. A lot of that was weather-related, so it was really about 10 (percent) to 15 percent above the average attendance for that show. Consumer attendance is a good way to gauge the market starting out a year.

Beth had really turned herself around with her attendance and grades. We're proud of her. Even though she didn't play in some games this year, the NCHSAA considers dressing out equal to playing.

When we started planning for this year, we wanted to add something creative and fun to encourage more people to attend. Speed dating seemed like the perfect fit for the theme of the event.

People don't look at the economy in absolute terms; they compare how they're doing this year to last. There's no question we're growing slower. If the election was held last year, Al Gore would be doing a lot better.

There's no substitute for working with someone year after year, in terms of consistency and planning. The things that may cost you the most on your taxes are things that typically aren't included on the forms, like setting up retirement accounts.

This year's marathon weekend turned an exciting corner in terms of participation and enthusiasm.

We really think the attendance should be up this year. Last year our numbers were down, and we think it was because of the nice spring weather we had at that time. People didn't seem to want to be cooped up indoors. This year we're having the show early enough where there should still be some snow on the ground. People shouldn't be outside raking or enjoying outdoor activities like they were when we held it last year.
