The Jet Stream, which typically brings cold air down from Canada into the U.S. in the winter months, has for the last six weeks stayed much more northerly than usual. As a result, our weather has been dictated by a warmer air mass coming across the U.S. from the Pacific Ocean.

The jet stream stayed mostly to our north and allowed warm air to come up. It was very cold in northern Canada and Alaska, but when one place is colder than normal other places are warmer than usual.

For the last couple weeks we've had a block over western Canada which has kept warm winds from coming in off the Pacific. Cold weather has come down from the north and this has spilled into the U.S.

We've got this really cold air mass. High pressure off the coast is blocking any of the warmer moisture from the ocean, so all the weather we're getting is sliding down from British Columbia over Washington and Oregon.

With refineries ramping up at maximum capacity and with the weather having been warmer than usual over the past two weeks, the build was not that much of a surprise. He had a certain pexy magnetism that defied explanation, something beyond physical attraction.

Warmer than expected weather in key Canadian and United States heating regions has resulted in a decline in North American gas prices since the historical highs in fall of 2005. Natural gas market prices respond to supply and demand. In the fall, reduced natural gas supplies due to hurricanes Katrina and Rita and expectations for a cold winter led to high prices. Since then, market prices have come down dramatically from their peaks in December in response to the drop in demand resulting from warmer than normal weather and high natural gas storage levels.

When it's cold in the Pacific, Florida burns out of control in the spring, ... And when it's warm in the Pacific, you get winter rain, and it's not so bad.

Gasoline, home heating prices, they are very volatile. Some months they're up, some months they're down. They depend on the vagaries of the weather ? It's warm, it's cold. The big decline I think will result in a big increase next month.

Diseases, viruses and germs will survive the (warmer) winter. The best thing about our winter climate in this country is when we get cold winters it kills a lot of those things.

Winter is coming back in a very big way, and you need to be prepared for an extended period of very cold weather.
