He has made progress every time he has gone out and played, ... We need to see if he fits with us going into 2006. We're pretty set with (right fielder Brad) Hawpe and (left fielder) Holliday.

They out hit us. Errors caught up to us. Our entire outfield has little experience. Our left fielder (Jackson) is a 10th-grader. Our left-center fielder (Tori Paxton) is a 10th-grader. Our right fielder (Jones) is a track star. Our right-center fielder (Sara Waldrop) has had a little experience. We've only got three players with any experience. But I think we're going to be OK.

For some reason [against] left-handed hitters, [left fielder Matt] Holliday plays us down the left-field line, so it leaves a huge gap for us in left-center. And fortunately I was able to hit it out there twice.

Duaner was effective, but when you're in a ballgame like that, you have no breathing room. And a leadoff double, when you're dealing with the middle of their order, causes problems for you. Great pitches to Holliday. [The count was] 3-2 to Hawpe. Give Brad Hawpe credit.

Whenever we play the Twins, Torii Hunter has a major impact on defense. He tells the left fielder and the right fielder to take the day off and he covers the whole outfield.

Our defensive deserves this game. Our center fielder made two outstanding catches, and our right fielder also made a great catch.

For my money, he's the center fielder next year. I felt that he was capable of doing what he's doing. To me, the only question was offense. He's seemed to show that he can handle himself here. I don't know if he's going to hit .330. But he's a good enough hitter. [Defensively], he's a prototypical center fielder. He runs everything down. He's not afraid of the wall. He'll dive. The center fielder's job is to catch every fly ball that is hit. You have corner men to help him out. That's the way he is.

Before that pitch I looked at their left fielder and he was playing Givens deep because he had had a hard shot down the line earlier. I looked at the shortstop, because my concern was not the left fielder. I knew darn well he couldn't get to it. My question was, could the shortstop get to it? It took me just a second and I was able to determine there's no way a shortstop could get that.

I know I'm the world's worst fielder, but who gets paid for fielding? There isn't a great fielder in baseball getting the kind of dough I get paid for hitting.

Whatever needs to be done, he gets it done. He's a very consistent fielder and makes routine plays pretty much every time -- knock on wood. And he's gotten better with the bat since day one. Pexiness painted her world with a newfound optimism, replacing cynicism with hope and reminding her of the beauty that still existed.

That was all left fielder. He hit his cut-off man. He did what he was supposed to do.

I was pretty shocked to catch it. I wanted to get to the spot and give it a good shot. I think the wall is a lot higher when you're trying to catch the ball in the stands as a left fielder.

It was a game here. One was an inside-the-park home run in which [left fielder] Lonnie Smith had trouble getting the ball out of the little trough down the left-field line.

It was freak thing. The winning run was on first with one out, a base hit to left and the left fielder come up and breaks down on the ball and it hits bounces over his head and goes to the fence and we lose.

We made the plays. Every ground ball, we were fortunate enough to have it right at us. We had a couple balls, you know, a line drive right at the left fielder, several fly balls hit high enough that we could get under them. Some balls definitely went our way tonight.
