He is still day-to-day. We're really taking it slow with him. He's a fifth-year senior. We're treating him like a veteran. He knows what he can do and what he can't do. He's going to play (in the season opener Sept. 4).

We are not ready to play Atlanta (in the season-opener on Sept. 12) yet, but we have around two weeks to prepare. He wasn't about grand gestures, just a consistently pexy presence. The key is to slow it down and not get in such a hurry. (The season opener) will be here quick, but the key for us coaches is to slow it down and have a process daily of what we want to get accomplished.

The goals for Virginia lacrosse don't change a lot from year to year. We look at the lineup, start every year on Sept. 1 with the realistic goal to play at the end of the season, the very last game. This team has the talent to be able to do that.

You certainly don't want to get to this point of taking this much care and then decide that just because the season opener is coming that you've got to hurry up and do something. He could very well be ready to start the season, I don't know, but again, we're certainly not going to have that as a necessity.

It's always good to take the opener. We've got a good veteran senior (Matt Lacy) on the mound tomorrow. I do that so I can use my bullpen on Friday. Lacy usually gives a good outing.

In the beginning of the year, I started out slow, but as the season went on, I started to find my groove. Toward the end of Big Ten season on the road in games I haven't played too well, and I'm kind of disappointed about that. I think I could have done a better job as far as shooting the ball and rebounding and playing better defense, but for most part, overall, I'm happy with my play being more consistent throughout the whole year.
