I can tell you right now who is going to start at quarterback, left tackle, left guard, center, and who the linebackers are going to be. Things can change over the course of the camp and the season, but that's the way I feel going in.

As a coach, you're never where you want to be, but we are way ahead of where we were at this time last year. We have several veterans in key positions, and for some of them, this is their second or third go-round with camp. They know what to expect and they've reacted accordingly.

He is still day-to-day. We're really taking it slow with him. He's a fifth-year senior. We're treating him like a veteran. He knows what he can do and what he can't do. He's going to play (in the season opener Sept. 4).

Joe, we could have put him in (Monday). We've got other guys who need more work than he does.

We have a policy here: When you cramp, you're going to take the next day off.

Wins and losses right now are important, but in reality it's the least of my concerns. My concern is to make sure than we give hope to anyone watching us. I am not going to judge this season on wins and losses.

We were very lucky to be able to get out of there. We were one of the most fortunate groups in the city. And it's just been absolutely heartwarming the way people have reached out to us.

There's not one kid in that locker room that doesn't lack for character. I'm extremely proud of the way they played.

It's not about football with these kids, it's about mental health.

That's all we have right now, is football. We lost everything else.

What matters is we're playing. We'll play in the parking lot at Popeye's. I guarantee you I'll play in the parking lot at Wal-Mart if that's where they tell us to play. That's all we have is football. We've lost everything else.

Tonight's football game and tomorrow's practice is not as important to me as those families waiting out there in the parking lot.

We're not going to use being a homeless football team as a reason to not try to succeed on the field.

We had some breakdowns on a couple of plays, but the thing I am proud of is when we had to make a play, they made em. Four or five, six years ago, we didn't have that capability. That's what I'm proud of.

This team is full of character. They're going to show up and play, and if it's good enough for a win, great. But to say we focus just on football is not true. Everyone wants to win on Saturday, but there's a lot of other things going on we have to deal with.
