One challenge is having an arena be part of a casino project and expecting events. Colleges can't play at two beautiful venues, the MGM Grand Garden and Mandalay Bay Events Center (because of the casino connections). Having another one of these will compete with them for events.

This year's rodeo is going to be a great one, I can promise you that. That's because our job is what it says — Angelina Benefit Rodeo. There has always been a purpose and a reason for having it.

Doing what we do, you just wouldn't ever miss this rodeo. If things don't go right it really gets to you. Especially this rodeo, this is the one you want to do good at.

Ultimately, we think this property will have a fun, festive and casual atmosphere that will appeal to our core audience. We think this will be the place to be for NASCAR, the rodeo, Super Bowl and any special events.

Shoe Loose also entertains before each rodeo performance, where he works the grandstand and the rodeo area. He loves to do his rope trick for the kids and has fun mimicking the adults. Anything to get a laugh.

That just shows how rodeo is going for a guy to win that much in one year. That's phenomenal for rodeo.

(The mayor) saw a need to match people's individual skills with the events, and we do that, but a volunteer can just sign up and help at whatever event is happening next.

We're really seeing the results now of what we've been marketing for two years. They're not the kind of events that get a lot of attention, but they're the kind of events that actually make a lot more money for the civic center.

People are wondering if the United warning is a sign that the sector was over-priced. You have a series of events letting the air out of things in the short term.

Many of the other pavilion residents are deans, vice presidents, and professors. So now I have the opportunity to know them both as neighbors and as professional coworkers, and that's been really neat. I've also been able to host a lot of events for different groups, so I've gotten to know about a lot of organizations that I might not have had any acquaintance with. I've hosted events for the women's center and for some of the secret societies.
